Looking for opinions on sport touring tires

I Like I'm going to buy a sport tour tire for the rear on my F4i, so I was woundering what the cbrworld thinks the best sport tour tire is for grip and wear?  The reason I am doing it is because I am replacing my rear with a pilot power every summer so I am looking for something that will last longer.  I don't do track days, but I do do a week tour every year that finishes off the pilot power every year.

    Thx, Ez

Your statement doesn't make a whole lot of sense.  You don't get something for nothing.  If you want a tire with grip, you sacrifice wear and vice versa.  So do you want grip or do you want longevity?  You're not going to get both.

Listen I know a sport tour tire is does not have as much grip as a sport tire I am not a fool to don't treat me like one.  I am just wondering which sport tour tire has the best grip and wear in the sport tour category.  So stop trying to be smarter than everyone and just take the question for what it is.

Re: Looking for opinions on sport touring tires

I dont think you have to sacrifice too much to get what you want.  I did tons of research to replace my OEM tire on my 2006 F4I and after everything, I went with Pirelli Diablo's.  Not the Corsas, just Diablo.  They are not as sticky and soft as the Corsa's, but thats also why they last longer, but they got lots of great reviews and I love them so far compared to the pilot sports that came stock on the F4I.  Id stay away from a pure sport touring tire though because I would be concerned on how much traction is lost in the twisties Just my opinion. .

I have never called you a fool.  Nor have I treated you as one.  And I've never claimed to be smarter than everyone (or anyone) here.

Its apparently you didn't like what I had to say in your thread.  Whatever.  You won't have to worry about that any more.

My friend has the Diablo's on his VFR and he loves them.  I'm just tired of replacing the pilots yearly it is a great tire but it wears so fast.

diable is in the same category as the powers. it's not a touring tire, it's the street/sport tire, touring would be the diablo stradas.

Ya I now,  Tahoe if you have any opinion on a sport tour tire that would be great.  Really that is all I am wondering if anyone has used a sport tour tire and how they performed.

C'mon Tahoe, don't treat Ezs like a fool.  And stop trying to be smarter than everyone.  Tahoe, just take the question for what it is.

Re: Looking for opinions on sport touring tires

C'mon Abad,  you know what Ezs wants.  He wants a tire with a good combination of grip and wear, not a tire with extreme grip that's extremely long lasting.

I have Diablo Strada's on my F3.  I primarily commute on my bike, and I'll hit any twisties I come across.  I tear up the cloverleaf off-ramps pretty good too.  squid  They stick as good as I need them to stick (I don't go to the track though), and they still have a lot of tread left after 4,000 miles.

I still stand by my original statement.

Re: Looking for opinions on sport touring tires

    ok meng...let me interject...
EZ...it's true, your first post is contradictory, because there is no sport touring tire that comes with grip because they are designed to provide mileage over grip.
so what you wanted to, meant to, and implied in your post is "sport tour tire that has the most grip when compared to other sport tour tires".
abad is some sort of an engineer...and reading between the lines can be hard for engineers.
with that said...the answer you're looking for is most likely the diablo stradas...but be careful, because you aren't going to get nearly as much grip as with the sport tires and so forth.
also remember, they may take longer to warm up...i know the stradas does take some time to warm up.
lastly...don't force everything up on the tire, meaning if you take turns smoothly and in rhythm, your tire will grip just fine!

Re: Looking for opinions on sport touring tires

Just get the Pirelli Diablos.  NOT the Corsa's or the Stradas.  I only have a few hundred miles on mine so far, but all my research showed they get over 8k miles with no problem on them, and they are very grippy.  Better than the Pilot sports that came stock on my 2006 F4I.  Pirelli Diablos are the best tire you can get before you go into the sport touring range where you sacrifice (in my opinion) too much grip for higher mileage.
