Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

I have both F3 passenger rearsets and an F3 shock on my F2, both mounted without modification.

Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

    wow, what a list.
    alot of parts are interchangeable

take my bike for instance. its a 96 with a lot of different year parts on it.

front wheel is F2. with F2 rotors
    97 seat
    94 motor
i have a 94 speedo adapated into my F3 cluster

rad is different between the two models one is curved and the other is straight
    rear wheel is the same
forks are teh same from 94 and up
    same as rear shock
    frame is slightly different
    tank is same.
    clip ons same
    triple clamp same
    cluster different between two gens
spark unit is different between the two models
    gearing si the same
    carbs are different sizes
    levers same
    resoiver same
tail light same from 91 thru 96
tail plastics same from 91 thru 96
you can use the 97 seat but it leaves anice little gap between the rear plastics and the
    seat
    windshield same
    front sets same
    air box different between gens
    mirrors same
    tire sizes same
    kickstand same
    turn signals same
    exhaust fits both bikes

Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

actually, the 97/98 had a 5.5" rim, where as the earlier models had a 5" rim.. meaning.. 160 max size on earlier models, 180 in 97/98...

Front rim is the same size, but the 91-94's had the thing for the speed-o.. the 95+ the speedo is ran from the engine, electronic i believe...

the forks are kinda interchangeable, if you change the front rim... another option is to use the lower parts of your forks, and upgrade to 94+ internals and tops (the silver parts, what ever they are called)

rear shock is the same, but the 94+ models had the external resivior

frame is slightly different as Ohsoquik stated

    tank is the same

    Clipons are the same

    tripple tree is the same

    cluster is way different

gearing is mostly the same, with the exception of the 95+ bikes have a 1.64:1 3rd gear, vs the 91-94's 1.58

    levers same

    resivior same

    tail lights same 91-96

tail plastics are the same 91-96

you can use the 97 seat but it leaves anice little gap between the rear plastics and the seat

    windshield the same

    front sets the same

    same kickstand

airboxes are different, the 91-94s are the same, the 95-98s are the same as well, i believe

mirrors are interchangeable, but i think they look different when you get to the 97-98's

    Front tires are 120/60's

Rear tires are 160's for 91-94 (or is it 96?) 95-98 (maybe 97/98) are 180's

    turn signals are the same

exhausts are the same, with the exception of the header.. i believe the F3 header is different from other years? but i'm not 100% sure on this one.. the rest of the system bolts up w/o a problem

also, the rear swing arms are different, the 97/98 is wider than the previous models...
the rear fender is the same for the corresponding year swing arm

    front fenders are identical

    stator cover = yes

    clutch cover = yes

rearsets = yes, but i'd use the gixxer ones

brakelines = yes as well, i think

    Coolant bottle = yes

    Thermostat/Radiator hoses = yes

    Front sprocket cover = yes

    Front/Rear Sprockets = yes

    Frame sliders = yes

I can also post the other specs on the motor and stuff, IE cam profiles, etc...

alot of the stuff is direct bolt up, some things you can make fit with some work, and some just wont work w/o alot of other changes....

    Brake pads are different.

If at first you don't succeed, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

    How about a shift lever?

This is a great thread and just what I needed. I see that on some of your posts, you mention that levers are interchangeable. I'm not sure which levers you mean. Does that include the shift lever too? Someone is selling a F3 shift lever and I'm wondering if it'll fit my F2. Excuse the stupid questions...

Re: How about a shift lever?

What year/model GSXR would you take the rearsets from for an F2? Why those compared to the stock ones?
