First street bike I could legally ride on the roadway was a 1970 Honda CL70 when I was 15 (yea, it was brand new). 17 or so bikes later, CBR954RR, one of my favorites.

honda cbr250rr. best beginer bike in the world IMHO, very forgiving comfortable like a sports bike but with out the power. looks good was easy to ride. i use to be able to keep up with the big boys in the twisties with it and it had  such a cool little rattta tat tat sound. makes me grin :)

Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your mistakes for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from.

Re: What was your first bike?

Time to date myself I guess.  My first was the 1975 Honda CB400F.  The one with the cool four into one exhaust.  I just recently learned that they only made them for two years and they've become a collectors item.  Saw one on ebay for $7000 restored.  Mine was $1199 brand new.  My best friend and I bought ours the same day and rode the crap out of them.  500 hundred miles the first day!

Re: What was your first bike?

I had a 91 Suzuki Katana 750 w/ Vance and Hines pipe, K&N pod filters, and GSX-R 750 carbs. The gf was opposed to me owning a bike, so I found one that needed work and dropped it off in the driveway before she even knew what was up :oP I got her running, and rode it for a few months till the transmission blew. I ended up ordering a used motor from a 93 kat 750 and had it running great all the way till the time i sold it. Paid $850 for the bike, another $650 for the used motor, and ended up selling it for a cool $2K.

Re: What was your first bike?

My first bike was my '01 CBR600 F4i. It's the same one I ride today.

I started riding only a year ago (hence my username) and I would tend to say that it was a dumb decision that I didn't start on a smaller bike first.

I had virtually no experience before buying my bike, besides riding a couple of dirt bikes that my friends owned.

Within the first month, I had a bad spill and I was in the hospital for a week. Since then, I've dropped it several times, and it hurts to ride on it for long periods of time, because of the metal rod in my left leg from the accident.

Looking back, I would have gotten a CHEAPER, less powerful bike to start with. I'm just now starting to feel a little confidence on it, but that's assuming it will even start for me. I'm still trying to repair everything on it from the wreck.

    Yep, bad idea!

I know just enough to be dangerous!
