I guess he's been busy riding it??

Tighter, stiffer, big brake bite? Sharper turn in?

    Re: 600RR fork conversion nightmare

Either he is too busy riding it, or wrecked it. j/k

I hope he gets back to us. I am kind of curious. I have been thinking about it if I can keep from modding any of my stock parts.

I know I could probably get better performance out of just changing the springs and valves in the stock forks. I just have that desire to have something "different".

I have all the parts ready to assemble, just haven't had the time. I was in the middle of putting the RR swingarm on too, and went with a 4-way Ohlins at the last minute instead.

    Re: 600RR fork conversion nightmare

Well i was getting ready to buy a set of RR forks because the guy that was selling them  told me they are the same as F4i (that's what I have).  Until I read this!  I think i will stick to the F4i ones. So if any of you guys that have done the conversion have a set i will take it. 6164375589. Thanks

    Re: 600RR fork conversion nightmare

WOW SEBSPEED, the RR swingarm looks awesome!  ( It looks like the HRC crew just rolled it out of thr garage)  I'm  definitly liking that!

BlackdofF4i, I definitly agree, I like things that are different also.

Well here's my 2 cents on the new front end......

This front end is better, by far.  the turn in is better, feedback is better.  It feels more stable in corners.  With the F4i front end, I had to have the rear raised up for better turn in, but this made the bike unstable, which made steering dampner a must.  I did not have the dampner installed with the RR forks on the bike, and I didn't lower the rear either.( no signs of twitchy steering at high speeds).  This tells me that the RR front might make the front of the bike sit higher?  Now would I do this mod over if given a chance? Yes!   I just wish I'd had all the info, before starting the Mod in the first place. I have some pic's of my bike with the new frontend on, I'm just not sure how to post them(LOL)

Sebspeed, keep us posted on the 05 fork mod, and yes post pic's

Oh yes I forgot to mention this...I like the shorty pipe on the exhaust Sebspeed.  Jardine has a new pipe for the 06 R6.   I can't tell if this pipe is legal or not.  I hope so, because it's going on the bike along with the RR tail section this winter.

    Re: 600RR fork conversion nightmare

That pipe I made is just for show, Jeff, it is extremely loud, and all backpressure is lost, so it brings the power down.

I have to finish rebuiding my Katana, I have a buyer for it, once it's off the lift I can re-start my other projects!Smile

    Re: 600RR fork conversion nightmare

What? your not keeping the chrome pipe on?  doesn't chrome make things go faster?LOL  I think if you could get the exhaust to curve around under the bike ( to keep the pipe length the same) and exit like the R6/GSXR, you might be fine.  I'm going to check this mod out this winter, with dyno runs to verify any gains..   Velosity of the exhaust gases. is what you should be worried about, not backpressure.  Any kind of backpressure is bad.
