I love my RF-1000 because: the ventilation works really well, it fits snuggly, and looks nice.  I'll give Arai a try for my next helmet.

Heck ya. That's my helmet too! I love Shoei helmets particularly the designs and because of their smaller sizes. But I still think my helmet could stand to be a bit smaller even if it is an XXS. Hahaha.

    Re: helmet update

on some other things to consider on your favorite helmet. i cleaned 3 of the 4 of mine this weekend. good thing i don't sweat in the head much as i didn't see much grime or yucky stuff.

my fly dirt helmet and kbc were supereasy to clean. removable cheek pads and liner at top. my suomy, was a pain in that there was nothing removable. had to keep it dunked in water/woolite and rub/squish it around. my suomy is still superior in feel/weight over my kbc, but my kbc was so much easier to clean.

this was the first time cleaning them too.

    Re: helmet update

I had an HJC that I used to wear riding around on my 74 CB 750 for a couple years. It was one of the only helmets that would fit over my big head that was in my price range at the time.

Now, I bought a 03 CBR 600RR and got a Shoei helmet with it. The helmet is maybe slightly more comfortable but it has nice features like a much more durable strap snap (my HJC one broke), removable padding, much lighter/tighter fitting, and has a sweet tinted lens.

If you can't afford a Shoei I wouldnt' sweat it too much. I wouldnt' have one if it didn't come with my bike but I'm glad it did.

I started with a KBC, but I love my Shoei X-Eleven. Definitly worth the cost.

However, you need to try A BUNCH of helmets on. Buying a $600 lid dosent help if it dosent fit and gives you headaches.
