I had a set of polished aluminum sliders on my F4i when I tucked the front wheel doing about 30mph. The Aluminum did not dig in and flip the bike. It wore pretty evenly but it didn't wear excessively. The sliders I had were made by BadBoy racing products and there was minimal damage to the plastic. Some light road rash on the lower fairing, bar-end, front brake lever, right mirror and the stainless strap on my slip-on (Oh yeah, the rear brake lever was bent back at 90 degrees). The scratches in the plastics were not deep at all, just some light sanding and spot paint and it is as good as new. (Now my forearm and shoulder...thats another story. Thank God for Alpinestar leather jackets).
My question is in regards to the two piece sliders pictured earlier. Are the bases strong enough to keep the outer plastic slider from ripping off over the bolt head? If anyone has any info on these and how they hold up to "Real world testing", let us know. It seems like a good idea to only have to replace a portion of the slider instead of buying a whole new set.
