    Re: Then and Now pictures

How long do the Pilot Powers last?  It is time for new tires, but I need something that will hold up to a lot of interstate miles. (I work 35 miles from my house).  I have Continental Contiforce's on there now and they have done a pretty good job as far as longevity.

Supa, what you did to your bike is effin sweet! Did you repaint the fairings or replace them? If you repainted them, how much does it cost? Seeing what you did gives me hope for my bike!

PS. You didnt give up ur playa card, ur just a playa in a different game now!  ~.^

    Re: Then and Now pictures

Thanks, Actually a friend of a friend painted everything for me, (I took off all of the decals).  He charged me $175, but I gave him $200.  He already had the paint, I had to buy the clear...  My next project is putting screens inside the fairings, I actually had it before I painted the bike and liked how they looked.  What year bike do you have?

BTW, I dig that philosophy on the marriage thing...

    Re: Then and Now pictures

Looks awesome!!! I like the original style paint, too.. but, it makes sense to update it after it gets all scratched up. Plus, it just makes it look modern which most ppl won't even realize that it is 10+ years old. If you go to sell it later, you'll def get a return on it. Nice work!

I've been contemplating on repainting my red 98, since it has some rash and scratches... But, I still get a lot of complements.

    Re: Then and Now pictures

Thanks, It took sometime for me to get it painted, I kept going back and forth for about a year, then after the bike was dropped, it was a done deal.  Anyone have any suggestions on tires?  I might just wait until spring before upgrading them...

Keep stock sizes.  (120/60/17, 160/60/17 i think) Michelin Pilot Powers are great.  All I use.

Funny you say that, I actually was going to go for 170's on the back...I will look into the Michelin Pilot Powers, I've been hearing good things about them.  Are they a harder or softer tire? (do they last).  Probably won't replace until spring.

Yeah it looks like my sisters neighborhood of ferguson. Anyway I am currently in S.korea working and miss home alot. I grew up down the street from forest park in the city with a view of the science center. Well its always nice to bump into people from home and once again nice bike if I ever paint my bike again I will do something similar but of course I will have to change a few things here and there because thats my style.

That bike in the youtube link is Cold-Blooded, is that yours?  No not Ferguson, (my parents live close to there), but the edge of Spanish Lake.  How long have you been away?

    Re: Then and Now pictures

Well.... I was having a hard as hell time figuring out what color paint and decals I was going to use for my F2. This combo was on the top of my list but couldnt decide... however seeing it on this bike=sexy. Are there any mods besides the, db windshield, mirrors, d&d?

Good job on the paint quality, looks nice and smooth. Did you do it youreself?

As far as your tire question, I have metzler m-3's on mine and I really like them. I like them better than my old dunlops.

    Re: Then and Now pictures

My vision came true with this paint job, (had a friend of a freind do it).  I was going to incorporate more red, but I'm glad that I didn't.  I used some newer CBR's that I saw on a few of the forums and went from there.  Those mods you listed are the major ones, a few others are:  Flush mount blinkers in front and rear, f4 rear shock, (I love the new stance on the bike), rear fender delete, license plate bolt lights, clear rear light.  I'm still deciding whether or not to get different color clutch/brake handles and rear passenger pegs.  But I will be putting the mesh vent covers over the openings in the fairings, (I had them before I painted).  Here is a pic before I applied the decals...

gorgeous bike, how much did the f4 shock raise the seat?
  •  10-11-2008, 02:22 AM 293994 in reply to 293983

    Re: Then and Now pictures

Thanks, the shock raised it about an inch to a inch and a half.  I love the way it sits and rides.  I also had to put a f4 kickstand on it.
