When you pull over a younger guy, on a bike or in another vehicle, what do you want to/prefer to hear from the alleged offender?

The truth. If you have a good reason, lets hear it. Were you passing? Getting away from an agressive driver? Getting away from little old lady on the cell phone? Got the runs? Most of us have a finely tuned BS detector so if you are lying I will probably pickup on it. I have heard 99.9% of the excuses available. Give it a whirl. I have let people go before because they came up with a really good one or made me laugh on a long night. (assuming I didn't nab you for 50 over or something).

I was curious about something I read though regarding fighting a ticket. This guy mentioned that it had worked for him on three different occasions.
He would delay the court date by saying he had a Dr appt or something..he would I think do this a few times. When he finally did go in the LEO was a no show, pleaded not guilty, and I guess walked off scott free.

In my county each side gets ONE continuance. If you show up and I show up and you say you aren't ready then it will get set off. If You show up and I don't on the next one it will get set off again. If I don't show up on the last one then it will get dismissed. I CAN file on you again if I want, but it isn't worth it on speeding. If YOU do not show up on any of your appearances then a warrent is issued and you license is suspended.

    FLwalt:
I was told years ago by a lady police officer acquaintance there where certain areas on the road she knew she could speed a bit w less worry about being nailed.

I was wondering what areas might this be true?

If I can see you I can usually catch you on radar.

    Re: Speeding ?'s

I usually only do 4 over.  Do I think it's going to get me anywhere much faster, no.  I drove 2300 miles cross country once and i drove an average of 10 over and it only saved me a couple, maybe three hours, on a 31 hr trip, however, I just can't stand being behind grandma!

As far as stalling the court system by saying you have a doctors appointment, that doesn't work in VA.  The cops write tickets and assign court dates based on when they are scheduled to be there.  They have certain days that they are guaranteed to be in court.
