sadly, quite a few riders dont understand the concept of a powerband... or are not comfortable using it. hell, some dont understand the concept of 'throttle'...
I'm 100% with you on this one. A lot of newbs think of themselves as experts as soon as they hop on a bike, twist that throttle and go into tripple digit speeds. The next day they say that they already outgrew their 600s. And then you see them in the twisties crossing the double yellow on every turn cuz they still cant ride. My gf has a Ninja 250 so I did get to ride it quiet a bit. And if you say it is gutless then yeah, you have no concept of a power band. Definition: The subjectively defined rpm range over which an engine delivers a substantial fraction of its peak power. If you could not accellerate fast on a 250 then take some riding lessons. The bike might feel gutless because inexperienced people hop on and expect the torque of a dirt or a liter bike right off the line. Keep that baby above 9K rpms and it flies. It has a 0-60 of 5.75 seconds, would you like to tell me what cars fall into this category?

tongpo:obvioulsy you're one of them...a 4 stroke pararllel twin doesn't have a powerband.
and it this case it has a surge of power akin to an 80 year old's bladder leaking piss in the night
The bike may well have hit 170kph, but felt like it took forever getting there though THAT wasn't my problem.
I don't excpect a 250 4 stroke bike to be fast. But being such a small engine I expect it to be revy and eager - imho it wasn't.
gutless
buy an RS125
go read Fulcrum's definition. his actually makes sense.
take a 220+hp MotoGP machine that is soo expertly tuned its HP curve is actually a perfectly straight line (not at all out of reason). would u say it didnt have a powerband simply because there was no surge of power??
your expectations are wrong and uninformed. think about the actual engine design and wat Kawi set out to do w/ the bike and tell me y its engine isnt revy.

Yeah, maybe my post wasnt clear (some times I cant tell when I re-read them) What I was tring to say was that compared to my old 83 CM200, the 250 ninja is a rocket, from 0-9000rpm...BLAH, but from 9000-14000 it was a riot! Once you get above 9 you stay there for the most part.
But I think most experienced riders who do want em, have a love for em.....and it's a love hate relationship. so those who dont love'em....Hate em.
CBR929-jardine race can, down 1, polished frame and swing arm, wheels polished, HELI bars, Sargent seat, Puig racing screen commuting on a VLX600 shadow for now, 60MPG!!! I punched out the baffles, so it has that V-twin snap and crackle that made H/D so infamous. Except this little scute is rice powered!!lol

quote me calling u a newb... cmon, do it.
everyone except Rossi, Bayliss, and a handful of others still need lessons. so get over yourself thinking ure stubborness will fly. i kno u dont like the Ninja250, but u seem to not comprehend the fact that i and quite a few other ppl think its a "fast" bike... which seems to make u more opinionated than myself. i hope the critical thinking required to respond to my prev post didnt send u for a loop.
and of course im a biker snob, but atleast im informed.

i lump all you snobs, informed or otherwise, together so could quote 'you' calling me a newb easily
Think we both know the lessons suggested weren't of an advanced track nature. But lke i care. . . .watever anyone thinks of my riding don't change how much i enjoy it so it's water off a ducks back mate.
As far as the rest, I disagreed with the majority view on the bike, and for this i can't ride and have no experience? I didn't agree with you, but did i say if you think the bike goes well you're a shite rider?or a newb?
Still think it's disapointing. Looks like a race bike, rides like a learner bike, imho
Might be quick on paper, but just felt like it wasn't trying.. . . .what do i know, i like Bandits . . . . .
