Lightning [:lightning] Brno - Race - Amazing performance, but also bad luck

    Brno first corner incident

After an unlucky first qualifying practice in which he had a fall, and a second qualifying practice where Miguel never seemed to have completely found the perfect settings for this track, Miguel was 26th at the starting grid. Right at the first corner, a few riders fell in front of him, making him take a forced detour though the gravel, which brought him down to the very last position.(You can watch here a brief video clip showing Miguel going past the camera on the gravel, avoiding the fallen bikes - must have XVid codec installed to see it).

Nevertheless, if anything, it made Miguel fight even harder to recover the lost time and, showing his tremendous riding abilities, he managed to climb up to 16th place until the last lap. On the last lap, when in reach of his first point this season - since the rider in front of him ended up out of the race - Miguel was once again brought down by bad luck:

"No words can describe this race Sad. Right at the first corner, I was pushed by another rider trying to avoid an accident with several bikes ahead, and I went into the gravel. I was then the very last rider in 29th position, but I managed to set a very fast pace, and recovered up to 16th. My laptimes would easily place me inside the top 15, if it weren't for the first corner incident.

Everything pointed towards getting my first point this season but, on the last lap, due to a previous fall of another rider, there was a lot of oil on the track. I just lost the back of the bike without a chance to recover it and I fell, fortunately without any physical injury to myself.

I am truly sad, since this is the second race where I get a DNF Sad. And this one hurts more because I was doing a fantastic race after the initial incident. I'm sure better days will come."
