    [:crash]

Doh! Cold tires on cold, a little wet, a little dirty roads. . . while cords are showing through the rear tire, and it was dark out. . . The only thing "not stupid" that I did was WEAR MY GEAR. Lucky too because I slid about 30 feet into a ditch. I did ride the bike home, so we were not hurt too bad.

    A good lesson. . .

    Re: [:crash]

here's my story... woke up around 5:30am this morning. got ready to go to work.. 6:00am got my GEAR on.. got on the bike by 6:10am.. riding down murray ridge rd.. got on the 805s on ramp.. about to get my speed up and all of the sudden, a black mustang starts spinning out of control.. applied both brakes and swerve away from him, but his tire comes flying off and hit my front tire.. slid about 15-20 feet on the middle of the freeway.. looked up.. saw a school bus sliding to a stop towards me... while sliding on my stomach, pushed my self up, ran towards the shoulder away from the fast lane.. luckily there was one car who saw me and used his car to block other cars from hitting me.  my bike was about 40 feet away from me in the middle of the freeway.. I haven.t had a chance to see how my bike is doing, as far as myself, I just got released from the hospital.. I'm glad I bought a leather jacket last week.. because that and the helmet saved me from getting a serious injury..

wow long story.. but it was pretty scary specially seeing the school bus!!!!

    Re: [:crash]

Glad both of you guys had some gear on.............and glad no one was seriously injured.   A guy on my local forum just insured his bike a couple days ago.......took it out the same day he insured it......he high sided over his bike and broke his collar bone...........had the insurance on it for all of 1 hour.

Remember to be careful if you haven't been out on your bike for a while.    Your reactions will be rusty and so will your bike skills in general.  Take it easy in the beginning.

esco600rr, dam, you are lucky (in the most important way).  Sounds like you didnt injure yourself too bad, whats the extent of your trauma?
The bike is probably, eh, pretty f'ed up.  The good thing is that if that mustang driver is caught he will pay for everything.  My gf was in a very same cituation only in a car when she had to avoid an overturned drunk driver.  Her car was totalled and she got messed up.  We had to go through lawyers but the mofo paid for it.

    Re: [:crash]

I had my friend drive yesterday to see my bike..it's amazing that it only sustained minor cosmetic damage.. the frame and swing arm sliders saved it from getting fak'd up

It's funny cuz yesterday I was like yeah "i'm ok, i'm ok" but this morning I couldn't get out of my bed.. I had to call my friend to drive me back to the hospital to get some pain med.. they gave me vicodin.. i felt good afterwards... lol

I can't wait to heal and get my bike running again... I don't know if I'll be able to ride the same, but like what everyone's saying... take it slow and try to get my confidence back.

Believe me, I know, I know. I was waiting through the winter and for my first track day of the season to get new rubber. It's just so nice to set a brand new tire down for the first time onto the track. The first two track days of the season are the next two days in a row. (3/12-3/13) I CAN'T FRIGGIN' WAIT!!! Needless to say, I'll be getting new rubber. . .

All of this has taught me a valuable lesson for street riding. I never realised how far you slide after a low-side, and looking back at places I've gone far too fast at, if I had slid out, I'd likely have died. It has changed my outlook in a good way, though may take some of the fun out of the street.(a good thing!) I've been thinking about getting off the streets and just keep a track bike. . .

Glad to hear that you're ok too, esco600rr.

    WEAR YOUR GEAR!!!
