    trackday gear question..

my big ass wont fit into a 1 piece.. so im going to have to 2 piece it.

this jacket is on newenough in the closeouts, and its a steal.  has a 360 zipper, but textile underarms..

do trackday gear have to be 100% leathers?  or would this underarm textile leather jacket fly?

    Re: trackday gear question..

You need to ask this question to the trackday organizer.  They set the rules for their trackdays.  Some will allow a textile, others won't.  Some will allow 2pc, other won't.

    Re: trackday gear question..

As abad said, depends on the organizer.

In my case, I allow 2-piece leather suit zipped up together no problem, but not textile-based jackets or suits. I've seen the damage even a slow abrasion crash can do to a textile jacket. I also don't allow flip-up helmets, I've also seen what a slow fall can cause, if the helmet happens to open on contact with the ground or wasn't securely locked ... Sad.

Make sure you don't save up too much on safety equipment, because once you ride on a track, you'll be coming back for more Smile., and if you happen to have a small fall for some reason, you don't want to blame yourself for not making sure you were correctly protected.

Good luck, and enjoy your time at the track ! Don't forget to come back and post about your trackday ! Big Smile

    Re: trackday gear question..

i deffenetly don't base my gear on price.  i know my saftey doens't go on sale...  but this jacket is at a fraction of the price, and is still 90% leather, and still offers the 360 zipper.

so if for whatever reason i go down, and happen to fall on my inner sides, or underarm.. i guess i'll be *** out of luck.. other than that, its a pretty decent jacket.

but yeah, i'll check with the orginazations..

    Re: trackday gear question..

The Blaster series has been a favorite of sport and street riders for years. We were able to buy the remaining inventory of this style at a fantastic price. My comments from ‘07: The Blaster 3.0 is a nicely styled leather sport jacket with a twist—it’s made with textile panels down the inside of the sleeves and the sides of the torso. These panels are removable and there is mesh material underneath which will allow for a lot of air flow through the jacket in hot weather. But in cold weather, you can ride with the textile panels installed to block the wind. And with the removable thermal liner in place, you’ll have a warm jacket. The jacket has both a full circumference zipper and a short rear zipper for attachment to either leather sport pants or textile pants. Take the “View Larger Pictures” link above to see a good group of photos that shows this jacket’s unique features. The jacket comes with CE “turtle shell” armor in the shoulders and elbows and a dual density back pad. The back pad can be upgraded to a CE type (see below).

so sounds like textile over mesh... either way, sounds like i could be wasting 200 bucks on a hope.. im not really getting a solid answer from trackday orgs.  i emailed 3 orgs.. and got a "looks like it will work" from one.. nothing from the others..

so i think im going to buck up, dish out the 800 or so, and get a A* 2 peice from new enough.. if the size isn't right, i'll keep sending it back untill its perfect.

    Re: trackday gear question..

the only thing is some trackday organizers will let you go with the aerostitch suit on. that's not leather but textile, but a proven product. not sure about mixture of leathers and textile. send pictures and be straight forward. they would only answer for your protection as gear is not part of tech inspection process, but a given for everyone (99.999999999% are in leathers). not sure if their insurance would have a say in that, but again, different strokes for different folks.
