    Lowering a 2002 F4i

I'm 5'1 and I hear people lowering theirs like 3" in the front 2" in the back. 2.5" in the front and 1.5" Whats up with the uneven lowering? Is there a reason for that? I was planning on lowering mine close to a little less than 3.5" in the front and back. My inseam is around 27"

Not sure what the deal is with the uneven lowering but I ride an F4I currently lowered about 2 inches and I'm sorry I ever got used to that. I plan to raise it back to stock height and ride it the way it's supposed to be. I'm 5'0" with a 28 inseam. Just MHO.

Why do you plan to return it to stock? What is wrong with it?

    Re: Lowering a 2002 F4i

It messes up the handling of the bike when you lower it. It doesn't ride as well. I already crashed on the track BECAUSE my bike was lowered. I went into a left turn and my left peg caught the pavement and I high sided. I broke my collar bone, a rib and a finger as a result of it.

If you're a new rider and don't plan to take it to the track or do any sharp curves with it, just ride around for recreational or commuting purposes you should be fine.

I see, I don't race or anything. My top speed is only going to be 50. I just use it to go to work and class

I don't race or anything either, the trackdays are fun days and my bike VERY rarely sees triple digits.

Because the way bikes are set up they are supposed to be higher in the rear.  This let's you turn into a curve at a sharper lean angle.  If you were to lower the bike evenly then in a turn your bike will tend to go straighter rather than into the curve.  It's all about weight distribution.  And plus a higher butt looks better :P

    Re: Lowering a 2002 F4i

I bought my 2002 F4i and it was already lowered in the front but not in the back, as I can tell so far. I like it better that way, although I have heard from my track junkie friends that it's not to hot when riding the track... but I don't  feel any difference.

Sex is like math... you add the bed, subtract the clothes, divide the legs and pray you don't multiply!

Bikes can be replaced... people can't. Ride safe!

Well I lowered it 3.5 in the back. Still rides the same. When I got it it was hard to turn (stock) and it remains the same. Gotta go see what thats about. I think I will drop the front too about 2 inches so it is is somewhat even.
