    Vonage?

Anybody here use Vonage?  If so:

    - how do you like the phone service?

    - do you use your house's wiring (from traditional land lines) for your phones?  If so, how difficult was it to set this up?

    Re: Vonage?

didn't end up having it since comcast was giving its equivalent service for free for 1 yr. but some feedback on my experience:
    - i didn't get the lines re-wired, but would've been a pain since the cable connection is across the room from the next nearest phone line.
    - vonage required extra fees for a fax line
    - if it goes down, you have to use your cell phone to call for a fix

For anyone whose interested... I signed up for Vonage when I moved.  So far its been pretty good.  Installation was easy and the setup was straight-forward.

Don't know much about Vonage except from the commercials... Is it VOIP?

Yes, its VoIP.  But I don't know if you can use any VoIP phone or if you have to use Vonage-specific equipment.

I fell for the hype and have been using MagicJack for several months and it actually works pretty well.

I've heard about that too... what are the pros and cons as you see it?

I'm waiting for Verizon to get FiOS in my neck of the woods. When they do, I'll probably kick ATT to the curb.

    Re: Vonage?

A friend of mine just got Skype, it is $2.95 a month for unlimited USA and Canada (i think that there was a $60 phone # charge, one time fee, but it was 50% off since he got it at the same time as the rest of the plan) for $100 you can even buy a phone that allows you to be connected even if the PC is off.... I'll try post back to say how it works for him.
