Did the salesperson say why honda was discountinuing the F line? I work for Honda and i can't find anything on it. I didn't know if they are planning to unveil a new F line this year (the F5 maybe?). It's very, very hard to get that kind of info bc Honda keeps things pretty tight when it comes to new releases.

    Re: CBR F5i?

im interested to see if they would make an F5. that would be freakin sweet, becuase by the time i "grage- ih- tate" college that would be the first bike i would look into buying. but i guess it all else fails i could look for an 06 F4i, gently used of course.

    Re: CBR F5i?

The F series has most certainly gone the way of the dodo. That line was always meant to be Honda's inline four 600 sportbike, but they kept it around three years after it had obviously been replaced by the RR to see if they could keep milking it by getting riders who like the $500-1000 cheaper price tag... much in the manner Yamaha has (incredibly) with the decades-old thundercat.

If you ask me, street-oriented sportbikes will be dead for at least the next few years. The basic inability of people to drive everywhere with increasing fuel prices might make the Japanese move away from their present trends, but not any time soon. If you want a comparable replacement for the F4i (but one that heads into sport-touring), pray that Honda releases a new generation, more sport-oriented, VFR in 2009 or 2010. Otherwise, try not to put too many miles on your F4i or prepare to buy ever-increasingly peaky, ultra-high revving track-oriented bikes you can ride on the street.
