Hi everyone,
I did run a search and that's luckily how I found the info that the 929 swingarm is uneven - which I find extremely ridiculous for Honda to do. Does anyone know *why* they did that?!?!?!?

Anyway, I have a Pit-Bull SS (Standard/Spool) rear stand and I shimmed the right side but putting some wood under the right wheel (since I couldn't find anyone with the Pit-bull shim in stock) and it worked out okay. The bike barely lists to the right so I was pretty close on my shim thickness estimate.

However, I had a *** of a time getting the stand to "hook up" and stay in one spot when I was lifting the bike. It kept moving around on the swingarm and would position itself either too close to the axle (making it hard if not impossible to get the axle out) or it would move too far forward and I felt it might slide and I'd come back to a bike on the ground. After I did a good cleaning of the underside of the swingarm and the rubber spool covers it seemed to stay in position better. But is there a better stand for this?

I'd prefer spools but I don't really want to drill into the swingarm. It would make things so much easier though.

I was told by a shop that drlling the swing arm is a bad idea. That if you do have a spill, the spools will likley damage the swing arm as its hollow. The shop recomended drilling and taping aliminum "tabs" to weld on to the bottom of the swing arm. That way if somthing were to happen the swing arm would likely not suffer the spools being jamed into their hollow sides. And if the tabs were to be damaged the could be cut off and redone.  Just my

Thanks hubbard. I ended up making a makeshift "shim" to even out the rear stand. Then I just ordered the shim for the Pitbull SS stand. I'd rather have spools but I'd need to get someone to weld them onto the swingarm. Could be lots of work for little advantage.

I can understand not wanting to drill the swingarm for spools. Whether is would really weaken the swingarm or not I'd just have a hard time doing it.

I dont imagine having threaded tabs made to weld on to the bottom of the swing are would be that much more expensive then just haveing the swing are drilled and threaded. Actualy I would prefer to to them that way if I were doing the work, since most of the real "work" would be done on the bench and the welding would be fairly easy...guess it just depends on the shop.

i would either weld the differance on the right side of the swingarm or drill and insert a insert if you want spools.  a buddy of mine told me 954rr and 1000rr swingarm swap over.

the bike does not lean to much the right, its tolerable.

They make plates that go on the Axle rather then the washers. They are used on Superbikes and the plates extend out from the rear of the swingarm and your stand goes into slots on them. On both the wife's and my rear stand I have have a rubber shim on the right hand side.

I've already received my "spacer" for my Pitbull stand but this sounds more interesting and reliable to me. Can you please expand on these plates? Who makes them? How much? I saw something from supermotoengineering.com which looked good but they don't list anything for the 929.
