    I hope nothing broke

so here's what happened, I was in traffic and after I started going I needed to shift to second gear, but I didn't see that it got stuck on neutral, so I hear the rpms getting high and realize i wasn't moving so I knew i was in neutral. I quickly clutch in and shift to first and release the clutch as I give it a bit of gas...but when I left the clutch out it made this noise, really bad noise...like when you start going and you're on the wrong gear so the clutch makes a noise like it's hitting something...it only lasted for about a second...but it sounded really loud/bad and as if something broke...however, I continued riding and everything was fine.....

I think it happened bc I was in high rpms and the clutch made that noise when trying to adjust.my rpms were probably around the 4200 and  I was going at about 20 and didn't get any engine braking (which i usually get when shifting to 1st at such speed) .

do you think something broke? or does the fact that it continued working properly signify that everything is okay?

Your probably ok. The fact that every thing worked fine shortly afterward is a good sign. Things like that are usualy all or nothing. Just bear in mind that it could have weakened some part of the drive train ( like a stress crack) there is no way of knowing about that untill failure. i doubt there is any thing wrong, just be aware....

Yeah, it sounds nasty when you mess up a shift. You probably didn't break anything.

+1.  I've done this several times and nothing is broken.  It's embarrassing and noisy, but not the end of the world.
