any experienced carb'd 900RR turbo builders out there?? i need info please!!

hey im looking info on turbo-ing a 96 900RR. im a bike mechanic at Redline racing in Kenosha WI, but no one knows there stuff about turbos. i want to build the bike up for dragging and working at a race shop i have access to most anything and have good experience in the field.

im running with stock carbs, stock motor (bottom end), CB919 cams (same lift as WEBB racing cams) port and polished head and starting with a mitsubishi .48mm turbo, ebc racing springs, a mix of 65 and 75 lb. springs, a pingel wheelie bar and Mickey Thompson MCR2 street radial "slick" with a 68" wheel base, dropped front forks and  all around lower suspension. motor is open for suggestions and mods.

i need any info i can get as far as ignition, fuel system, carb settings (jetting and whatnot) airbox and tubes (any suggestions, i was going to cut and seal the stock airbox then run the compression pipe into it and run reed valves on top of the box for normal oxygen pull when off boost.) money isnt the greatest so i cant be buying $300 parts left and right. i really need the best ideas and seeing if i can get something to work, if not ill buy what i have to. but again, money isnt the greatest.

ill read anything you send me or reference me to so send all the info and pics and anything you can to bricks4584@aol.com or through here. any suggestions you can reccomend ill most likely do. the bike right now is a frame, wheels, and motor with all the parts for it lying around it in boxes. so i have a good start. thanks guys!!!!  ~Jim

That sounds like a cool project!

Have you thought about FI?   Whether it be a Megasquirt system, or trying to retrofit a 929/954 FI system onto your engine.......I guess the only issue with using the Honda system would be the cam sensor in the head(unless the 929/954 doesn't have this.....).  I'm not sure if you would have to get the carbs modified so they work properly with boost being applied to them (even with the carbs inside a sealed box).  I would suggest using the Megasquirt system.  Theres a local guy around here who used that system on a Suzuki 1100(which was carbed before)  It had a turbo system, and when it was all done it made around 200hp.  (Street driven).....now I have no idea how much boost he was running...but you should look into it.  I think it costs around $200, and you build it yourself(it comes with most/all the parts), or you can just buy the blueprints(I think....)

yeah ive done a ton of research and thought about FI and i could use the CB919 set up but theres alot to it and it comes out to be big money. im now researching the carb method to see if it can be done correctly. if it does im going to make a big tutorial out of it, all of the work done by me at my shop. ive known about the megasquirt system and am going to go that route if i cant obtain enough info on the carb option. if he was making 200hp off of an 1100 he was prolly only boosting a few pounds, 5 at best. the est. numbers for a turbo 900rr is that it would set the bike into mid-low 9's if it can be controlled down the track (which is normally the problem, first and second gear become useless) at 8lbs boost, which is plenty safe for these bullet-proof engines, the numbers are est. at 220hp at the wheel. ill post any info i can find. thanks guys!!!
