Yeah, I remember reading the article when it was published. To me it leaves a bunch of questions. each of the standards Seem to have their impact speed at witch they shine, the real questions are what kind of potential accident are you most likley to be involved in?..... Any thing50 and under with a stationary object or object moving in the same direction would seem to favor a D.O.T. bucket. 50 and down with ahead on moving cage, and if you survive the rest of the assult on your body then the snell seems to be the choice. Or high speed anything gives the advantage to the snell( if you can call that an advantage.)
Again......more questions, less answers. At any rate Ive thought about it some. so i have both, most of my commuting to work is with traffic at 60 or under .Not much chance of a head on in a 60 mph. traffic jam (at least I hope). so i wear a DOT full face. Weekends I have a Snell if I go out with the guys and things get spirited. I like to stay mid to back of the pack, n keep an eye on whats going on.
Who knows maybe its good logic ...maybe it's bunk. At any rate Ive had my M/C lic. a lilover 15 years. And one little spill when I was 17 (had my lic. about 8 months) and not an incedint since(I am knocking on wood). So here is to all the pricey gear we never need to test personaly!!!!
CBR929-jardine race can, down 1, polished frame and swing arm, wheels polished, HELI bars, Sargent seat, Puig racing screen
commuting on a VLX600 shadow for now, 60MPG!!! I punched out the baffles, so it has that V-twin snap and crackle that made H/D so infamous. Except this little scute is rice powered!!lol
and once in a while a 98 gold wing, its a scarey fast 2 wheeled yacht!!
