    Clutching up in second gear.

Hey everyone. I just recently did the 520 conversion chain and sprocket change on my 2001 f4i. I went -1/+2 and was wandering if i should be able to clutch it up in second. Before i did the conversion i could power wheelie and clutch in first gear, now it is a lot easier to do in first but that is besides the point. I thought with doing the -1/+2 i should be able to clutch it up in second but i can not get it to come up for anything. Could it be that my clutch is slipping? Or am i doing something wrong?

I just did that same conversion about a month and a half ago and  second comes up no problem.  It comes up at a slower mph too which is what i like.  About 30mph is perfect for clutching up second gear.  You should have no troubles getting it up with that gearing setup.  Just give it some more gas or something cuz it will definetly do it.

So when you do it in second gear do you really have to pull up on the bars while your doing it or is there enough power from the bike to do it all itself? And how far does the front wheel come off the ground? Thanks RSchaef83.

Re: Clutching up in second gear.

No, you don't have to pull up on the bars at all the bike has plenty of power.  Just go out and test it a few times, practice is the only way to get the feel for it.  It all depends on how much throttle you give it as to how far up the wheel comes up.

Just do some practice and you'll see it will pop right up.
