    Three cylinders

Ok, so I know I've put a lot of crap on here about my bike... Finally, I had some sense and used a temp gauge to see what cylinders were firing at idle, and which weren't. It appears the first cylinder (#1) doesn't fire till after 1/4 turn throttle. Does anyone have any ideas? I messed with the screws that you sync them with just to see if the cylinder would kick in if I turned it a bit, but it didn't fix anything. So now I'm stuck. I don't know if the carbs are just bad, or if it's something bigger. Thanks.

    Re: Three cylinders

Start with the basics. Run a compression test. Check for good spark. If those are fine then your problem is with the carb on that cylinder.

    Re: Three cylinders

Sounds like your pilot screw circuit or pilot jet is clogged.  Pull off the float bowl, and completely remove the idle mixture screw (not the carb synch screw) and the pilot jet.  Make sure that a spring, a flat washer, and a rubber o ring come out when you remove the mixture screw.  Ensure the pilot jet itself is clear and clean.  Take compressed air or carb cleaner, and blow it in the hole that the idle mixture screw came out of.  The, blow carb cleaner in the hole that the pilot jet came out of.  Let us know how this works out.

    Re: Three cylinders

haha, thanks...shortly after I posted this I changed the pilot jets cause the first cylinder carb had a piece or metal or something lodged in it...it still idles rough, but at least now all 4 cylinders are firing at idle...I'll get it straight one of these day, haha
