    Obeying ALL laws

To all our fellow riders whose occupation happens to involve enforcement of the law:  Do you always obey the legal posted speed limit, not ride to a degree which some people might call agressive or reckless, or in any other way not follow each and every motor vehicle code down to the letter of the law? (be honest....no one here will turn you in!!)  An acquaintance of mine who is a trooper and also rides a liter bike of another brand has always told me that no one is immune from the rush of a twist of the throttle.  You just need to pick the right place to do it.

    Re: Obeying ALL laws

There is not a single motorist on the street right now who obeys every motor vehcile code, have you ever read your states Vehicle Traffic Laws and Regulations?  The book is probably 6 inches thick and is from front to back things you are not allowed to do while driving a car or motorcycle.  So I can honestly say no I have never follwed each and every motor vehicle code down to the letter of the law, and neither has anyone else who owns a car or bike.

I have never driven any car or bike like a maniac, never even hit triple digits speeds on my bike and I have had it for more than 6 years.  Never scraped the pegs on any twisted street, don't see the need to.  I am not getting paid to be on the bike, and the coolness factor of doing stupid *** on my bike wouldn't last as long as the pain of fucking up or having someone else *** up.  There are regular people who share my feelings and ride like me, and there are police officers who are the complete opposite and do whatever they feel like.

    Re: Obeying ALL laws

As has been said before, if you plan on breaking traffic laws on your bike, know that the possibility of being ticketed, jailed, or killed is always there.  Keeping those things in mind, you can decide for yourself what you're willing to risk.  We're all adults here (at least I think so).  I always have those things in mind, and have broken a traffic law here and there.  Am I the moron weaving between cars in rush hour?  No.  But I will cruise at 5mph over (put me in cuffs).  I always signal, never run red lights or stop signs, keep proper following distance, yield to other motorists, stay seated on the bike unless stretching momentarily, etc. etc.  I have actually read every statute concerning the operation of all vehicles in the state of Florida, and can honestly say I can drive from one end of the state to the other without breaking a single law (and have).  The only way you couldn't follow every single law is if one law contradicted another, and that is not the case.  Yes, a statute book is quite a read, but only one chapter (out of 1013 chapters) covers traffic laws (ch. 316).  Just my 2 cents.

    Re: Obeying ALL laws

Sorry if I stirred up any trouble.  This was kind of a "tongue in cheek" question.  I realize that there isn't a single motorist who doesn't at some time or another break a law.  (knowingly or unknowingly, law enforcement officer, or citizen).  I guess what I was after was that some of us are more of an A type personality.  Granted, I would never put another person at risk, or ride harder than my ability will let me. Very rarely will I ever see triple digits (9 times out of 10 this would be on a track only) All I was saying is that if you are on a lonely stretch of back road with no one else in sight, twisting it open a little feels pretty exhilarating, right?  Again, I'm not stupid, I realize that there are many variables that could occur, and if on the odd chance, Johnny law was around the corner, I'd have to face the music and pay a fine.  Such is life.  Again, what I was saying is NEVER ride above your ability, NEVER put anyone else at risk, and please NEVER, EVER pull wheelies in traffic.  It's the people with no regard to public safety that can and do give other bikers a bad wrap.  God bless and have wonderful weekend!
