    new tires

So it is time that I remove the well used, perhaps well over used stock tires on my F4. I am looking to put on a new set but I really don't know much about what is out there for new tread. I ride a lot in town but I enjoy railing through mountain roads on the weekends and evenings. I don't mind dropping some cash, but I don't want to forego food for the next two months either.
So does anyone have any suggestions for some good tires that might fit my ridding?

    Re: new tires

Lol, I catch some flack for it once in a while. But I run tomahawks religiously. Good quality, never had any problems and I've delt with them for years. Between 2 bikes, Ive logged over 50,000 miles on their tires. I dont do track days, so the tires have never been pushed to the "edge", but I do ride fairly agressively on back roads and certain  twisty roads that I like streetwise. there a great "buget tire" in that their around 70 bucks for a front and 80 for a back . I run a 120 front and a 200 rear.and they are z rated.

I tried out a rear the first time because I was flat broke and needed a tire, was impressed enough that I just stuck with them. If your on a tight buget (like me) their worth a second look.

CBR929-jardine race can, down 1, polished frame and swing arm, wheels polished, HELI bars, Sargent seat, Puig racing screen

commuting on a VLX600 shadow for now, 60MPG!!! I punched out the baffles, so it has that V-twin snap and crackle that made H/D so infamous. Except this little scute is rice powered!!lol

    Re: new tires

I'm currently using Pirelli Diablo Corsa IIIs and I had Michellin Pilot Powers before.  They are sport and both great tires.  The corsas have dual compound  with harder rubber down the middle and softer on the sides, the Michellin also has dual compound called Pilot Power 2ct.   I went with the corsas because they were a bit cheaper and their soft sompound was actually much wider than the michellins, not just a thin strip on the rim.  The corsas are also more rounded while the pp has more of a V shape to it, one is more stable the other falls into corners faster and supposed to have a wider contact patch leaned over.  After riding both I really cant say that I like one shape more than the other.  They are nice and sticky and bugger up pretty well in the mountains when pushed hard.  How long they'll last depends on how you ride, for me I would say its 7-8k?  Expect to pay 300/set

    Re: new tires

My F4i came with dunlops on it from the dealer. I've stuck with Dunlop ever since. I'm currently running Dunlop Qualifers. These tires are awesome, however i don't really ride around town i pretty much only ride in the mountains. That being said I only expect to get around 3000-4000 miles out of this set of tires. You can expect to pay $300+ for a set.

    Re: new tires

My 02 F4i came with BT010s. I loved those tires, but of course they wore out. For some reason I bought a set of D208s and while they were okay, I didn't like the way the bike felt squirly on uneven pavement and rain grooves. Well, if you've seen my other thread, I bought some BT016s which were the replacements for the BT014s which were the replacements for the BT010s. I'll report back later on how they perform. I paid $328 out the door (I took off the wheels and tires and took them down to the shop) over at MC Tire Works in Lomita. Those guys do a great job, they're friendly and the price is pretty much in line. I found out that the BT016s also have 30% greater tread life (according to Bridgestone) than the BT014s due to the "multiple compound" manufacturing process. Harder in the middle and softer as you get out to the edge.

    Re: new tires

I love Pirelli Diablo Stradas.  Check 'em out, you might be able to save some cash.
