What is everyone's top ten mods they would do to a stock bike when they first got it? This is for a street-ridden only bike. Here is my list:
PCIII (Smoother fuel curve)
Slip-On (Looks + slight performance increase)
Steel-braided brake lines (Looks + performance)
Double-bubble windscreen (Looks + increase wind protection)
Adjustable Levers (Looks + custom setup)
Aftermarket tires (performance)
Fender Eliminator (Looks)
Flush mounted front signals (Looks)
Tank protector (Looks + protection)
Aftermarket grips (Looks + comfort)
J 2006 Honda CBR 600RR, Yoshi carbon fiber RS-5 undertail exhaust, PCIII, Zero Gravity dark smoke DB windscreen, Hotbodies smoke flush mount front turn signals, fender eliminator w/ LED signals, Pro Grip CF tank protector, Galfer blue SS brake lines F/R, Diablo Stradas F/R, Pazzo levers, Driven grips *********This b*tch is fast!!!**********

No, I completely agree that the greatest performance upgrade is the rider gaining experience. That's why most of the upgrades are for looks only (i.e. I'm not going to build a "race bike" with awesome susp, rearsets, steering damper, etc. when I don't even race or know how). Thanks for the replies.

Sounds like we're on the same track in terms of upgrades. I guess I got a little carried away but I think I'm set for now. Thanks for the reply.

abadfish: younghutch:Don't forget to upgrade the part that connects the seat to the handlebars.
Haha... I wanted to make a comment like that but then the haters would've jumped on me
how exactly do you plan to do that part younghutch? MSF classes which should've been taken already before the bike? track day classes for street though probably applicable but not 100%. classes hosted on track for street usage like reg pridmore's CLASS?
no seriously.. question was on "street" top 10 mods. other than just continually riding, reading books, asking, taking what you learn from trackdays/race to bike control at lower speeds on street, what exactly do you upgrade with the pilot on the bike?
no flames here, but looking to clarify on how you upgrade yourself for the street.

Sounds like you answered your own question.

high_revs:well, i already knew that typing it in (why do you think there's so many "possibilities" i wrote). but maybe they have a different one i'm not seeing?
and really, technically that's not an upgrade. you don't "chip" yourself up and expect to have 10 years experience in a matter of days. it comes with experience and mileage you put on.
Interesting question. I think I'd answer with "Mental upgrades." Training yourself to be more attentive while on the bike, more prepared to implement SIPD under any circumstances. Giving yourself the discipline to avoid doing the stupid things that cause bad things to happen (excessive speeding, stunting where inappropriate, taking turns at track speeds, etc). And finally, allowing yourself to accept the fact that no matter how good you are, there are things outside of your control that may have extremely detrimental effects on your well-being.

Ha...I done everyone of these things (except #5). But as stated in this thread, the #1 improvement (as far as importance goes) is "Seat Time". The experience one garners from being on the street and having the "Know-how" of what to look out for is (IMHO) is priceless.

p.s. The nut behind the bars on my bike still needs mods as well.
did the purple one do with one of your testicles what he did with the blue-haired girl?
