    CBR 600rr won't start!

I go into the garage to start up the bike to circulate some of the gas stabilizer and bam...nothing.  Lights came one, it was turning over, but it just won't start.  I have no idea what the deal is anyone have any ideas?

    Re: CBR 600rr won't start!

mine gave me a little problem one time starting up but it finally started with a lot of black smoke - like it was flooded - but that shouldn't happen on a fuel injected engine. only advice i can give is always go back to the basics. it takes 3 things for an internal combustion engine to run fuel , compression , and ignition. i'm sure compression is not the problem so that leaves fuel and ignition. check the simple things - are your air ducts clear and your air filter clean - ie - no critters blocking the way . is your battery fully charged ? an engine has to turn a certian rpms before she'll start up. and last but not least maybe leave her alone for a day then go back and try again - sometimes they can be like a female just won't start sometimes and trying and trying just don't work . wish i could be of more help. good luck.

    When did it last start?

I hear that if you start the 600rr say in the winter every month or so and don't let the bike warm up completely that you will have problems starting.  If you put the bike into 6th and walk it around that should do the trick.  Thats just what I hear though, its never happened to me, I am not even sure if you could walk the bike in 6th gear.

Could it be the battery is dead?  Mine has died like twice before and lights would come on and sound like it was trying to turn over.  Maybe  battery tender from walmart or something will do the trick.

    muddturtle3,

Don't know if you have had any more trouble starting your bike, but if you have and you try starting it and only get the starter to turn over rember there are basics to fuel injection too.  Usually, every time you either turn the key off and on the pump kicks gas to your engine for the next start.  What I am saying is that usually when you have trouble starting like you described your bike is somewhat flooded. To stop the injectors from shooting even more gas to your engine once you hit the starter button hold the trottle wide open(pinned back).  Doing this will stop the additional gas from going to the engine when you hit the starter.  Now only the gas that is flooding the engine is trying to ignite and your bike should start after only a few attempts.  For short, it has happened to me a number of times and not really sure why, but it does and life goes on.  If you do find out the real reason please post and let me know.  (2003 600RR).

    Re: CBR 600rr won't start!

What year is your bike? I have an 06 CBR 600RR and it rode flawless, until one morning(after riding it into the garage the night before) I rolled it out of the garage and it would not start. Talked to a shop and they said battery. I bought a battery and trickle charger. Still would not start. Brought bike to a shop and they initially thought it was a problem with the starter. Then they did a leak down test to check compression and it read back low and various compressions on all 4 cylinders. I ruled out rings because it is maintained well and had no previous symptoms. It might be my top end as well as yours. You could have jumped the timing somehow. Hopefully nothing too serious.
