    torn b/w katana 750 and 05 cbrf4i

ahhhhhhhhh... the cbr is sporty yet comfortable.. from what i hear. i havent sat on it. it already has all the mods that i want and its sellin for 5,000 obo. it has 6,150 miles on it.

the kat is soo nice though. black 06 3,800 miles on it. but its completely stock. its selling for 4500 obo.

i also want to ride 2 up with my gf. im about 180 shes 125.. ..the cbr600 might be a bit too weak????

i want a sporty/comfy bike... if i get the kat at a good price..maybe 4100.. i still gotta put an exhaust on it so it sounds purrrrttyyyy... hate that shovel on the back of it too....

by the way i had a 98 kat 600 and it was nice...very comfy so i kinda got some what of experience on a kat.. the cbr im lookin at has a banana seat which is more comfy for 2 up riding right????

need people who have these bikes to help me out! thanks

my girl isnt gonna be on 24/7 for ur information... want to make the right choice. bought a zx6r and sold it within 3 weeks!!! sucked!!!!!!!!!!

    Re: torn b/w katana 750 and 05 cbrf4i

these 2 bikes are not really comparable. the F4i was Honda's Supersport racing machine before the 600RR came out in 03'. the Katana has always been a sport-touring bike and nothing more. apparently, HP ratings are similar even though the Katana has that extra 150cc. however, the Katana is atleast 80lbs HEAVIER than the F4i. even w/ a slightly more torque than the F4i (apparently around 6 lb-ft), lugging around that extra 80lbs on the Katana will be difficult. so actually, riding w/ a passenger will prob be more difficult (on the engine) on the Katana.

number-wise, the F4i wins hands down. its lighter, faster, turns better, brakes better, uses modern tire sizes, and its a Honda Big Smile. however, it may not be more comfortable for you and your passenger. so get out there and test ride em both, or at least sit on them before making a decision. honestly, if u r used to your old Katana, no Supersport machine will feel as comfortable or as natural. its really up to u to either get used to the new riding position or not. i let a friend test ride my 600RR to compare to his Yamaha beastly, ratted, cruiser thingy... and he said my bike felt like a plastic toy. u prob felt similar on the ZX6R that u sold. he changed his tune a month after buying an SV650, but ya. buy whichever u enjoy.

The Katana is likely designed to be comforable whereas the f4i is more sporty and aggressive. The '04-06 f4i's with the banana seat are 1 step higher in comfort over the '01-03 split seat. Hop onto both bikes and see what suits you and your girl. Ultimately, the reliability of the Honda might win you over..

just to add... i actually sat on an 06' F4i today. it was like a Honda reunion or something outside my work today.. an F3, an F4i, and my 600RR. i couldnt pass up the chance to be nostalgic, so i chatted up the owners a bit. the banana seat is def much more comfortable than any modern Supersport like my 600RR or a ZX6R. it felt quite comparable to my old comfortable F2 back in the day. i used to do 400miles on that thing w/out any back pain. also, the bars on the F4i are atleast 2" higher. the pegs are lower as well, but its hard for me to tell by how much since im comparing to my Sato rearsets and not the stock location.

if i had to make a car analogy... the Katana could be a late 80s diesel Volvo and the F4i would be a late 90s 5-series BMW. Big Smile theyll both be comfortable and run a very long time, but u def know which one is faster.

    Re: torn b/w katana 750 and 05 cbrf4i

Did you get either one Alex?

For what it is worth now, I have a banana seat F4i and ride often with my GF, (we are within the ballpark for weights) and the F4i deals great with the weight of both of us. She likes the rear handle since it lets her sit up straighter for long rides (her back will start to feel it if she is croutched to hold on.)

    What did you get?

    Re: torn b/w katana 750 and 05 cbrf4i

You mentioned your girl was a little scared of the rear handles.......there is a belt on the market that you wear with handles for her that help give her a lil piece of mind, and more confidence in you.  If I can find a link Ill post it......
