    Here's an interesting one! Arizona Lienancy regarding M/C Permits (Or any other state)

    Ok, I have been riding motorcycles for almost my entire life (started @ 5 yrs old!) Recently, my wife and I have gotten a 1997 CBR600f3 - she's been licensed for 12+ years with a M/C endorsement, I have a 'Learner's Permit'. It's basically an inbetween, I took the written, but need to do the road course. This permit has a few restrictions like no riding @ night, no riding passengers, no freeway/interstate driving.

    However, here's my delema - I work like 6 miles from home. There's a freeway that can get me there in less than 10 minutes. If I happen to be riding on the freeway instead of surface streets, will most officers cite me for this and if so, will it be a points related violation? I think personally it will depend on the officer's mood and how nice I am to them!

    From an officers point of view, no matter the state, what has your experience been dealing with riders who have permits rather than a full endorsement?

    Dont test them.....the lawa is the law and why risk the officers mood on your driving privlages. I am not an officer but i know a lot of them around and like you said some would some wouldnt, but if they decided to be an ass your screwed, some would even tow the bike because basicaly when your on the highway your unlicensed if that is restriction to your permit. If i were a cop i wouldnt let it slid. A permit spells means not experianced and that can be just as dangerous as driving drunk in my eyes.

    yeah that's definitly an easy one I wouldn't test highway patrol officers.  As foe mw , where I work they view unlicensed or underclass drivers as a hazard and expect us to hammer them..it looks good for them when they can show how the pd is dealing with such things as a rise in accident or accident related fatalities. 

    I usually write the unlicensed operator ticket..it's no points and fixable if you get the actual license before the court date...although the bike has to be driven back to the pct by me and someone with the motorcycle endorsement has to come pick it up for you.  Plus that the motorcycle endorsement test was fast and  easy, there is no excuse why anyone who rides a bike shouldn't have it.  In fact on the rare occasion I deal with someone who is a legit mc rider, they usually get a warning as long as they are not driving like a total retart

    Well, I would say the amount of time I take surface streets is 80% vs. the 20% I take the free way. The freeway is only a 3 miles stretch, but much can happen in that distance. I was just curious - I am not a 'squid' nor someone who must 'upstage' the slower cars on the roadways. I honestly thought that being on a surface street is more hazardous compared to a freeway. With the chances of intersection related accidents and the like, it's almost worst.

    I enjoy riding and don't want to chance dinging up a perfect driving record (it's been 10 years since I got a ticket - knock on wood!) so I thought this would be the perfect place to pose the questions!

    I am looking to buy a 06 CBR600f4i, and I want to wait to get that bike before I take the riding course. I prefer to have my own machine to take it with so I can learn the bike and not just the techniques.

    Sounds like you answered your own question.  I'd take the freeway, but I say that because I'm currently legal.  You know what you have to risk, so your decision.  Good Luck.
