Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR - More rumours and info

For some reason the MotoRevue picture looks really fat and bulky.

I like the RC211V style front and tail, but I would hope the midsection is thinner. I like the whole "less is more" philosophy that they are applying to the bodywork now. Making the vents larger and the surface area of the plastics smaller so you can see more of the internals.

I am sure the undertail exhaust will be around for quite some time.

Since the R6 went "track focused" you can bet the 600rr will only be more so. With the F4i still in the lineup, there is no reason to have another street/track 600. The ergos will probably get tighter and hopefully if they throw a slipper clutch into it, it will work properly and not just be a "marketing point".

I will be interested to see if traction control makes it to the street this early how the systems work. I am sure it would piss quite a few people off if they could no longer do rolling burnouts.Big Smile

i would HOPE that since Honda invented the damn slipper clutch (i dont know this for sure, just what ive heard) that they would put a proper one in their bikes :P

traction control is cool, but just like ride-by-wire, I dont need it.

I just hope to god that it ends up being fucking beautifull. Its about time for a new street bike for me, and I would 'like' to stick with honda.

Even though im sure it will be highly track focused, I hope it will not have quite as many compromises as the R6 has made.

The 2006 R6 would get better reviews if it had a bit more low end for the street.  At least that's been the theme from that I've read.  If Honda have been paying attention then they will try to address that.  I'm also hoping they come up with a narrower profile like the new R6.  Although the new Triumph takes slim to a whole new level.  We shall see in time I suppose.

Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR - More rumours and info

I doubt it will get more low end. The F4i is their street bike not the RR. theres no reason to make sacrifices in the top end to make the bike more street friendly... which is unfortunate for the %90 of the owners who will never take it to a track.

You are right. The Triumph is just amazingly thin. I havent sat on a Ducati, but I can't imagine it being any thinner.

The only thing about the Triumph is that it seems soooo tall. I am not a short guy, but man it felt like I was up there in the saddle.

Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR - More rumours and info

Well, I sat on a Ducati 749 at the San Jose cycle show.  It was pretty darn thin.  And has a real nice feel to it actually.  I don't recall feeling that I sat too high in the Triumph.  But that opinion might be different now.  You do sit quite high on the R6 as well.  The bike I felt lowest in was the new Gixxer 600.  It feels real good to sit on.

It's true, Honda may not sacrifice the high end for low end torque, but that is the huge nock in the middle-weight comparisons.  At least for the street side of the shoot-outs.

Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR - More rumours and info

I dont care much about thickness, my F2 isnt thin by any means but its fine for me.

For me the #1 issue is weight. But Ive come to beleive that since the manufacturers are producing sport bikes to compete in AMA and WSB which have weight minimums, the bikes will NOT get much lighter. If you look at REAL (not claimed) weights of past bikes you will find that they really havent gotten much lighter.

So ive come to base my decision for a street bike mainly on style, comfort, and 'wow' factor.

Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR - More rumours and info

To point out something that I have said for almost 2 years now and is what no one seems to grasp.

The 2007 model year is the 20th ANNIVERSARY of the original CBR600 also known as the Hurricane. Honda for sure will make 2007 a big deal, just like Suzuki did for the Gixxer in 05. If Honda Manages to steal the MotoGP crown away fom Yamaha. Which they are dong very well in both th Riders and Construtors championships. Then for sure it will be a huge deal. All I know is I have been planning on an addition to my RR right after I bought it knowing how important 07 will be and if I could I would buy 2 and keep one in its original crate. Just tell me when and where I can put my deposit down.

That motor and chassis better have some HUGE changes, because the styling really dosent look that much different.

    [puke]

i sure as hell hope the front end doesnt have that rectangular air inlet... uggg, thats fugly

I wonder if it really will be all that much lighter... if it were, they would have to add weight to meet requirements for AMA wouldnt they?

I'm not going to begin to think that any of these representations are close to the real thing.  I have plenty of time to wait until the release.
