A question about F2 - F3 guages. Is it a direct bolt on and is the wiring the same? How about the speedo portion, the F2 is read from the front wheel, the F3 is not.

I know for sure that the wiring harness is different and the speedo is different....

interchangable parts on f2s and f3s?

I just bought a 96 f3 that went down pretty hard, and im in the process of rebulding.  I was wondering what all parts are interchangable from the late f2's?  The upper fairing stay looks similar, but there are some differences i can see...will it work with an f3 upper?  also, are the side fairings interchangeable? rears? thanks,
    Will

Re: interchangable parts on f2s and f3s?

i made a post a while back called "f2/f3 interchangeability" or some such, try a search, there should be a pretty good list in that thread.

side fairings and rears are interchangeable for sure tho

Re: interchangable parts on f2s and f3s?

they have diff radiators, speedos, diff engine case ( the f3 speedo is on the engine, f2 on front wheel) diff front rim/rotors, diff front fender/uppers & lowers (rear fairings should be the same), diff gauge cluster, diff set up on the carbs where the choke cable hooks up, f2 engine will fit an f3 with no mod's/ f3 engine will fit f2 frame only with notching a small piece from the frame, diff rear shock / older f2's have diff front shocks, other than that I think pretty much everything else is interchangable

actually, the 97/98 had a 5.5" rim, where as the earlier models had a 5" rim.. meaning.. 160 max size on earlier models, 180 in 97/98... ...

Though the rim is wider, both Honda and Dunlop recomend 160 tyres, on f3s as well as f2s.  Over size tires have less traction, unless they're on oversize rims.

FWIW I run a Dunlop 208 160 on my f3 rim, on a 92 f2.  Easy swap, the tyre rubbed some of the hugger away, but it was easy to whittle the hugger in to shape.

Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

Okay, I got screwed by this.

The 91-96 lower triples are the same I believe.  The 97-98 ARE NOT.  The angle of the stem is quite differint and doesn't work on my 97-98 F3.

Either the rake is differint on the 91-96 or the frame is differint.

Anyone know if the front and rear brake calipers are the same?

Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

One thing I have been using as a cheap conversion of OEM parts between F2's and F3's is bikebandit.com

It takes some digging but if your specific on a part you can run thru a bunch of bikes in no time.

    1. Starter relay switches are the same for F2's thru F3's and even on the 900RR's and I think the 929's..
    2. battery cables dif..
    3. ignition control modules dif.

Re: F2 vs F3 parts interchangeability thread

Anyone know what year F2 fork lowers might work on a set of F3 forks?

Are all F3 fork lowers the same?

    Thanks!

Anyone know how much I should pay for a set of forks, inclusive of the triple trees for a 1997 f3?

When you put the f3 shock on your bike, did it add any height to the bike?

Apparently the shock linkage for the 91-94 F2 and 97-98 F3 are the same, but the 95-96 F3 is taller or something.

I believe the GSXR sets refer to the passenger pegs, which requires a little bending since one of the bolts/holes is 1/8 in wider than the CBR passenger pegs. This mod lets you use a high mount exhaust -- there's a thread going on about this. I don't know if the the actual gsxr rider rearsets are interchangeable w/ the cbr ones.

Is this true? I can't seem to find the thread.  I would love to have a highmount exhaust on my F2
