I have also just changed my CCTL and was amazed at the difference - from a horrible fairing type resonating rattle to just the engine sounding as it should (I hope!!). I examined the tips on the new and old, they appeared to have the same amount of clearance so I was a little dubious at first, but perhaps that (undetectable) 1mm difference was enough.
Actually doing the job was not the best day off work I had! But achievable with only basic tools, tape and finger gymnastics. I had my work manufacture the Honda special tool from the Haynes manual, it looked different to the one fitted with the new tensioner but still fitted and was easier to use as the end is larger (I guess) for the chubbier finger!
Cheers for the all advice that had been posted before this though - a massive help.
