Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

After messing around with my speedo healer the gauges are non-linear. After about 60 - 80 mph the speedo get off more and more. So really even with my speedo healer set at 60 mph on the dino at 110 my speedo read about 111. If I set my speedo healer up going 140 on the dyno when I backed down in speed to 60 my speedo read 58 so somewheres theres a logic problem in the cluster. After having this problem I looked on the speedo healer website and they confirmed that the bikes have this issue. Also to explain this error a bit more for others the OD and speedo is about 5% off on most bikes. They make sure that the OD is correct but add the 5% to the speedo so if you adjust your speedo to be correct then your OD will be 5% less.

I've seen a few messages about speedometer errors, is this easily corrected?

Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

Just buy a speedo healer but understand that if you make the speed correct your OD will 5% less so you will think that your gas mileage is going down not a big deal. ;) They put the error in there because the of drastic OD change that occurs due to the wheel wear.

Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

I've owned both an '00 ZX-12R and now an '05 1000RR. The ZX-12R is definitely faster in a straight line, but something is wrong with either his bike or the rider. I've broken 155 in 5th gear and it was still pulling HARD with more left in 5th and another gear to go.
I miss the feeling of having my shoulders seperated byt the power of the 12R, but I love the way my 1000RR handles. I'm not sure I'd go back.

Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

Top speed is not all about HP. Other factors like aerodynamics and weight and placement of the rider makes a huge difference at those speeds. I.E. The Hayabusa does not have the most HP but is still one of the fastest bikes in the world thanks to extensive wind tunnel testing and an emphasis on aerodynamics.

Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

I have done 155 on my 2002 F4I . i think the 1000RR is alot faster than that. you are also comparing two differant class bikes a ZX12R which is a 1200cc to a 1000RR which is a 1000cc you are up 200 more cc's it would be more fare if you were running a ZX10R. those two bikes are more closely matched.

Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

Don't know much about the 1000, but my 06 600RR redlines at 145 in 4th gear.  So it definitely breaks 150 in 6th.

Re: Top speed on a 1000rr?

    Linkz:
Yea I call rider on that one. I've done 180 on my 1000rr and I wasn't at redline. From what I've read around, seems the bike's limit is 190. Does he clutchless shift?

Um yeah, indicated speed and actual speed are two VERY different things. I have a speedo healer on my 07 cbr 1000 and redline i'm reading 183 mph. And what would clutchless shifting have to do with top speed?
