State Farm all the way, they rate on displacement only, not whether it's a sportbike or cruiser.  I pay $300/year w/ full coverage & 250 deductible.  They're great!

Re: Insurance for your bike... who do you have?

Ok, so we heard from everyone with good records or minor violations.  Anyone else have a major violation on their record? I got a D.U.I. April of '04 and am bike shopping again (haven't had one since 2002) and haven't found anything remotely affordable reguarding insurance. Note: I'm not complaining. I know I put myself in the situation I'm in, just interested in finding some affordable insurance.  The bike that caught my eye yesterday was a 2006 CBR1000RR (yellow on blue). I got the out the door price down to $10,350.00, then found out my current insurance company wanted $7,000.00 a year to insure the bike... not happening.  I've quoted pretty much everything that comes to mind, and currently Progressive Direct is the cheapest at $3919.00 a year, which I'm still not too excited about. Only thing holding me getting a quote from State Farm is they require 3 years to have passed since a major violation, so they won't quote me til April '07. Anyway, just thought I'd throw this out there and see if anyone else with more than not perfect records has experience with motorcycle insurance.

Re: Insurance for your bike... who do you have?

I have State Farm full coverage with $500 deductibe on my 03 civic, 92 prelude, 01 F4I, 99 F4 and renters insurance for $160 a month.  It pays to have multiple policies with the same company.

Re: Insurance for your bike... who do you have?

$160 a month?!  I had full coverage (with State farm) on my 2000 Chev Silverado, renters insurance and my '02 F4i and my bike was $423 a year (full coverage) on top of the $1400 a year on the truck and house.  I am 39 and have no tickets....that doesn't seem fair.

Re: Insurance for your bike... who do you have?

I have maryland cycle direct, its a division of inerstate auto. I pay 530 a year, but they offer a weird payment plan. 1 payment of $530, 3 payments of like $200 or 6 payments of $110  I like them though, there is only 3 people that work in the MCD office and they go out of there way to help you.

Re: Insurance for your bike... who do you have?

I'm paying about $350/yr with Geico, but I'll have to shop State Farm too.

They were probably trying to get the other dude that was quoted $7K/yr to go somewhere else because maybe they don't typically write policies in that state or want to get out of that state. They did that to me when I moved from Florida to Pennsylvania.
