Specific Liscense Plate Question (With Pic) *EDIT* Another pic...

    Hi there guys!
First off, I want to say I think this is a great forum, I've been reading it for some time.
It's quite popular around here to mount the liscense plate on F2/F3 bikes to the seatpan.
I was bored over Christmas and went ahead without really thinking about the implications of said mod. I made a bracket to fasten the stock light in the fender to light the plate but now looking at it, I question whether or not I will find myself in trouble with the law.

    So for your consideration:

*EDIT* Here's another picture, maybe gives a little better idea.

If the officers in the crowd could comment, I would much appreciate it as I still have some time to figure out what to do about it before riding season comes about, if need be. I live in NB, Canada.

    Thanks so much!
    Jason

*EDIT* Thanks for the responses so far! Big Smile [:D] I know it's not legal but just wanted some ideas as to how much I'll get hasseled (understandably so). I see them around here quite frequently and I've never heard anyone say anything. Actually, a gixxer buddy rides with his plate off altogether, keeps it in the trunk. If the general consensus is that I'm going to be bothered, how do people think I ought to go about fixing it? I could probably make my own fender eliminator type thing out of sheet metal and get short stalk blinkers. Or I could just mount the plate where the blinkers are now and get short stalks, I don't know. I never should have cut my fender off to begin with, much less to the extent that it is now. Thanks again for the responses!

Its gotta depend somewhat on where you are from, and since i dont know the exact answere, i can only tell you this.  In NY we get ticketed all the time for the side mounts, because they are hard for the officers to read which is understandable, so i would think that you would get hasseled for that, you cant see it that well. But there are some officers on this site that can give you a direct answere to your question.

That is a better pic and you can see it pretty good.  I dont know the laws in your state, but here if it didnt come factory like that then its illegal.  we get by with aftermarket undertails and whatnot all the time but technically it isnt legal.

In Indiana that is not "legal". Would you get cited for it? Probably not.

As long as it is well lit and easily visible from the rear I wouldn't worry about it. If you wanted to "fix" it, just make a bracket that mounts the plate directly under the taillight.

Re: Specific Liscense Plate Question (With Pic)

In there is nothing in the Calif vehicle code which states a specific location only that it is to be no lower than 12" and no higher than 60".  Personally, I would not pull you over for that or cite you for it.
