DiSalvo was scrapping his R6 exhaust at Barber. Eh... I Just like the looks of the undertail but I understand now why Yami and Zuk didnt go that route.

    who needs an exhaust? :P

im looking forward to the RR, i hope it doesnt go crazy on the ergos like the R6. I want an awesome trackbike that i can still take on a short road trip or two without killing myself ;)

Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR is coming !!! (first spy pics ?)

I would say Honda is stuck with the undertail exhaust.  Suzuki and Yamaha didnt want to be copycats and came up with a cool looking and well thought out exhaust set up, Honda would look stupid to copy them, so I think we willsee the undertail set up for quite a while.  If  you want  the 2007 600RR to kick butt like the new R6 then you can throw good ergo out the window.  Heck the present day 600RR has crappy ergs for everday use, thats not what it was made for.

I am just wondering if we will ever see a 750rr or 800rr. It would be nice to have an option like the GSXR750.

i wouldnt be suprized... especially since GP is going to 800's, i bet a couple more companys start making something in that class.

I dont understand why more companies dont use a buell like exhaust.  Its perfectly balanced, as low as it can go, and it doesnt add any ground clearance issues.  Thats why I did mine the way I did, perfectly centered, as low as possible, no less ground clearance than a standard exhaust.

i think they want longer pipes for engine tuning purposes... but i could be wrong.

I would say they need the space to make the pipes equil length, but the turbo import car guys (me being one of them) find crazy ways to make rediculously small equil length manifolds.

Re: 2007 CBR 600 RR is coming !!! (first spy pics ?)

interesting,  I take MCN news with a grain of salt as they are one of the rumour mill type of places.  I'm guessing the telemetry is just for testing purposes although the curious and engineer side of me always likes to know all the trivial data. from engine head temp, to braking force and tire temp, you can never have enough data

I do see drive by wire throttles being the future, as it hopefully would introduce things like programmable throttles where the first 1/2 turn equals on a 1/4 throttle movement and rudementry traction control and anti-wheelie measures.

as far as exhaust I like the direction yamy went, athough I think the buell direction is the best with the exhaust totally under the bike, and it really cleans up the visual lines. at any rate I'm not a big fan of under seat exhausts as I like every scrap of storage space I can get, but I'm on the more practical side of sportbiking thats why I'm looking to go from my f4 to an f4i.  At any rate I highly doubt honda would kill the f4i, seeing how as how yamy has kept the 600r around with no real changes for a decade now.  I still think the f4i offers one of the best balances between performance and rideability and practicality.

2007 CBR 600 RR - More rumours and info

According to french magazine MotoRevue, the 2007 CBR 600 RR will be a completely radical MotoGP race replica, and will be aimed at the new R6. It will have a slipper clutch and, may even have some sort of electronic traction control (on a 600?). It seems it may just be a fuel mixture change if ity detects wheel spin, for instance, but impressive it it does have some sort of attempt to bring that type of technology to the common rider. The magazine also states one of the aims will be to reduce the weight down to 190 Kg when fully "wet" (all fuel, liquids, lubricants, etc). Still according to MotoRevue, the engine will be completely new and should top the revs achieved by the current 600 bikes (although the tiny article mentions 19,000 rpm, I doubt it). I do believe it may try to go to the 17,500 (real rpm) just to throw dust on Yamaha's face after the marketing mess of the new R6 announced rpms...

Here's the scanned reference, with an edited photo of what the new CBR 600 RR COULD look like:

During this week-end's Valencia MotoGP qualification, I also go to know some rumours that Honda may present it's new MotoGP bike for 2007 following the new regulationsat one of the last races this year, and it may just happen in Estoril. So, if the curretn CBR 600 RR was made to look like the current RCV, it may just be that the new CBR 600 RR is being made to look similar to the new MotoGP Honda machine. And if Honda introduces the MotoGP machine late this year, maybe even in the Estoril race week-end, it may also happen that the new CBR 600 RR could also be here. And if so, maybe, just maybe, CBRWorld will get a special first look at these machines. All I can say is:
     Ccross your fingers !!!!!"

Also they are just someones opinion as to what the new models "may" look like with no real insider info.

If you look close you can usually tell what parts come from what other bikes when you look at those images.

Still neat to look at, but just eye candy. Nothing you will really get to ride.

(i.e. the '07 R1 pics have been posted here: http://cbrworld.net/forums/thread/237957.aspx and they don't look anything like the "Raptors and Rockets" version.)
