how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

Ok  I can get it to come up maybe a foot or so in 2nd clutchin it.  It seems to have less power than my old R1...I think its the gearing or the power band. How are u guys bringin up the 1000? I usually try at about 20 or 40 mph and slip the clutch and hit the throttle....IT comes up but not as high as I would like...any tips? I think I just have to get used to it and i guess give more gas..but on my R1 i didnt have to hit the gas as hard as i do on the honda...help me out fellas

clutching on a litter bike?  1000RR should handle power wheelies with no problem, blipping at most.

+1 even my 954RR would pickup the front wheel by just rolling on the throttle in second.

just get up to around 30mph, close the throttle and quickly snap it open again to about 1/2 to 3/4 throttle, the front end will come up slowly.

to get the nose up fast just blip the clutch and compress the front end when you close the throttle, this will cause the nose to rebound upwards as you open the throttle again and will sling shot the nose up.

i know what you are saying 619.....i have the 1000, and it is a simple thing to get it up.  you may be more affraid than anything, but you dont wanna get into throttle wheelies if you are trying to hold it for any kinda of distance.  get it to about 30-35 slip the clutch and get on the gas.  you want to get it up to about 10 oclock as fast as you can.  if you wanna stand up with it, which i find to be the smoothest.  give it a lil less gas.......throttle wheelies are just wheelies that you just end up chasing them.  that means you dont get to the balance point you just keep going faster and faster............

I'm no expert, but it seems like getting some speed would help with your balance.  Go too slow and it's gonna be pretty hard not to just fall over.  Or go slow and then grab too much throttle...either way's gonna be messy.

Re: how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

I agree.  Your rear wheel produces much more than half of your gyroscopic stability.  The slower you go the more unstable you become to the sides.
Be careful with "pull in the clutch, get on the gas, pop it and get to 10 o'clock position fast" advice.  One guy here bought a gixer, was going 15 mph, revved it to 7-8k and popped the clutch.  Biked flipped over on him and now he is a quadropligic.

at 20-30 mph i am fine with balance even on my last bike..it just seems harder to bring up the front on the honda...power wheelies suck u go to fast i dont like that..i want to get up and just cruise.  going that fast on one wheel is nuts

Re: how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

Your Honda has a more foward biased weight and a different rake/trial than the R1. all these things will contribute to keep the front wheel planted.  Remember these are race bikes and in racing you don't want the front wheen coming up.

Re: how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

well i got it up to the 10 position to day just had to gas it a lil harder. and i dont pull in the clutch rev it out and pop it. I hit the clutch and gas at about the same time. there is no delay. But today i hit the gas just a lil harder and i got it up. I dont like power ups they take to long to get up and u have to have alot of road ahead of u or else u will speed up way to fast. I just want to get it up and keep it up for a bit and ill be happy. these are sit downs by the way i have moved up to stand ups yet. Im a afraid of heights so stand ups kinda bother me lol

Re: how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

sounds like you're getting the hang of it.  the clutch is definetly better to get the bike to balance point.  20mph has to be too slow for 2nd gear on a stock 1000rr.  i even take my f4i to 40 before i clutch 2nd gear.  you probably need a bit more speed.....40 is about perfect to pull it up at.

the main point is that the bike has plenty of power you just gotta give it more throttle.  if you have to ask how to wheelie the 06 1000rr then you probably need some practice also.

The bike is engineered to keep the wheel down but that doesn't mean it won't ride a mean wheelie with a good rider.

Re: how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

Just go down one tooth in the front sproket it'll float right up for you. Its like $20-$30 mod that you'll love, especially if you like to pull wheelies all day but keep your top end.

It not the bike that makes the rider, its the rider that makes the bike

Re: how to wheelie the 06 1000RR....help pls

I can pop it up all day long now. The only issue I have now is fear so that I can keep the front wheel up there longer. Sometimes I can ride it out for a block others its up and back down...all depends on how smooth i get it off the ground the sudden ones that jerk up hard go back down the slower ones i can get up better and ride out longer. And now im doing them starting at around 40-45 mph. On of these days ill ride it out for a few miles. But thats after I learn stand ups.

you  must have some sprockets on there if you're getting an f2 up in 4th.  the stock set wont do that.
