yes tahoe SC, i have the ceramic beads in my tires. they're called DYNA BEADS and they are AWESOME!!! i recently painted my rims and changed tires all in one shot and i had my girlfriend take them to get balanced at a different shop than where i usually go (because they tried to con her by saying my bearings were bad the last time she took them to get balanced and the reason they were getting balanced the last time was because of new tires and NEW BEARINGS!!! lol!) and when we went to pick them up they told me all about the DYNA BEADS system. it was twice the cost of normal balancing but it was still only $10 per wheel, so i can't complain.

okay, on to what you all want to hear: the bike rides like glass!!! absolutely NO VIBRATION at ANY SPEED! the whole bike feels better too! turn-in is excellent! plus, NO UGLY WHEEL WEIGHTS ON MY FRESHLY PAINTED FLAT-BLACK WHEELS!!! YAY!!!

there are some people out there who think the beads will "wear-out" the tire from the inside out but there are no cases of this happening that i have seen. DYNA BEADS have been used in the trucking industry for years without any ill effects, so i'm sure they're not going to affect motorcycle tires at all considering how often we change tires. i'm not an expert on this, but i'm running PILOT POWERS front and back so i'll be changing tires in a few thousand miles, so i'll let you all know what the inside of the tire looks like then!!

as someone that worked in the tire industry for too many years, including w/ balancing beads that go into the tire..... i can adequately say that u got the shaft on this one.  u paid more for a half-assed solution to something that wasnt a problem.  beads are used in the trucking industry because its the only feasible option to balance 23.5" and larger tires.  their bias-ply tires dont stay balanced because of tire construction and the variable load, so it helps if the balancing method can adapt.  also, its a ridiculous request to pound 3+lbs of weight onto a wheel to balance the assembly when u kno itll be wrong 10min later. 

however, the main problem w/ this is that the balance is altered the second any torque is applied to the wheel/tire.  slowing down/speeding up the tire forces the beads out of their balanced position.  and with a motorcycle, turning may force the beads out of position esp at low speeds.  lucky for u that DynaBeads for motorcycles only use about 1oz of weight.  so upon acceleration/braking/turning... all those times when u arent paying attention to how glassy smooth the ride is... the balance is prob only off by a max of 1oz.  ya ull never feel the difference... maybe unless u r on the track trying to figure out where all that chatter is coming from.

the beads aren't designed to "stay" in a single position... they're designed to roll freely in the tire and apply balance through that free and constant ability to change position relative to where it needs to be. if you think about it, that probably gives you an edge when it comes to torque because the beads would roll freely during initial take-off; whereas weights on the rim would be exactly that, weights on a rim. because the weight is staticly fixed it would require more torque to move than a rim without fixed weights.

you're right though, it would hardly be enough to notice. but, it is still a point in fact.

also, fixed weights would lose accurancy as the tire wore down unless it were possible for the tire to wear out EXACTLY evenly throughout its use. try balancing new tires and then balancing them again 1000 miles later and see how accurate the balance is then. if you do that same test with a dyna bead wheel the tire will remain balanced from day 1 to the day you replace the tire (at least that's how they advertise anyway). after this i'm gonna try to google some bad reviews just in case, though...

as far as track use, i really can't say. i'm a daily commuter on my bike but i'm not by any means mild mannered on my bike. i live 5 miles up a windy mountain road (senator highway) in prescott, az and i drive this everyday to work and back. believe me when i say that i've never heard "chatter" coming from either wheel. but, still, i've never taken my bike to the track and i've yet to touch knee so i don't know for sure that the beads don't affect you adversely in high speed cornering.

as far as street goes, i've loved them since i got them. i've used both static balance (obviously) and, now, the dyna beads- and there's a very distinct difference in the two, with the dyna beads being the better of the two. i don't think i got shafted, but i've only got about 100 miles on them right now so only time will tell...

i wonder where Dyna got that data... saying that the tire will remain balanced throughout its life.  i kno its true obviously, however there is no commercially available balancer that gives accurate results when anything but air is inside the tire.  maybe they came up w/ something themselves.  ive used both main brands, Hunter and Coats, and used to laugh at techs trying to balance a wheel/tire after someone had put a valve stem into the tire during mounting to mess with them. 

i really doubt ure experience w/ this method of balancing will change over the life of the tire.  however, im very skeptical about u saying that the beads are better.  no street rider will ever feel a 0.5oz difference in balance, so how can one feel that the beads are better if a statically balanced tire n one w/ beads varies by less than that....  hell, i dont even balance my street or track tires anymore.
