When I first started riding I wore a pair of knee high black boots with a chunky heel. They allowed me to stand somewhat flat footed at traffic lights and such. . . but then I saw a video where someone's foot got destroyed and I've been wearing my Sidis ever since . . .
If you have a local Harley shop I would stop in and see if they have and hard toe, reinforced shin, heeled boots.
Also, Sidi makes a pair (I beleieve they are called "Rose") of black leather boots that look somewhat fashionable and have a heel that are reinforced in the toe and ankle. Maybe grab a pair of those until you are comfortable with the balance of the bike? Then I would suggest getting the more reinforced boots (this can be hard because they lower your range of motion making it harder to be on your tip-toes) but once you get used to it they're great.
Let me know if you need more specifics or options!
