    Greetings programs!

    Hey Everyone,

New member here but far from new to riding and forums in general. I just picked up an 00 929 on Tuesday night and I'm looking for a place to hang my helmet while I learn more about it. It's defnitely not my first bike as I've had a few but I've been playing in the V-twin world for awhile and wanted to try out the 929 on for size.

When I picked it up she was definitely neglected on the maintenance side and the previous owner on had her for about 6 months. It started right up and purred fairly well when cold even though it has about 29K on the clock. I figure that it's a Honda so the engine should last much longer. Anyway, so when I rode it home (150 miles) I found that the neglected tires and brakes (and other maintenance items) made the bike handle like an evil, evil monster. I had to muscle it all the way through turns just to keep it steady.

Yes the tires were wasted and had about 4 or 5 distinct wear patterns (flats) like it was ridden for miles upon miles at 5 different angles. Ghastly. The brakes (I pulled the pads last night) were about down to the backing plates but no scoring of the rotors were present so it should be okay.

Anyway, I have the wheels in my trunk ready to get some new skins on this afternoon. While I'm there I'm picking up new pads. I put on a new mirror yesterday and tomorrow we're leaving on a 700 mile journey to get to know eachother better. I figure the ride home was easy with no problems but she just told me that she needed brakes and tires and to be looked after a bit.

Here's to having a great relationship with the 929 and your community.

    Cheers!
    Aleks
