LOL.....I'm laughing because this is the most ghetto-rigged thing I've ever done :)
I don't have any pics of the process but I'll do my best to describe what I've done.
Parts needed (this is what I've used, you can probably substitute as you see fit):
- Clear Alternatives tail light lens
- LP dual-filament signal lamps
- LP dual-filament signal lamp bulbs (yellow)
- 1 coat hanger
Tools needed:
- needle nose pliers
The reason I used LP dual-filament signal lamps is because only the dual-filament bulbs come in yellow. All of their single-filament lamps are white (the last time I checked). If you aren't concerned about having yellow turn signals, then just use any single-filament light fixture. In either case, you're only going to use the receptacles and you won't use the lens.
The key thing here is mounting the turn signal light receptacles. I fabricated mounts for the receptacles out of a coat hanger. These "mounts" (LOL) were made in such a way that they'll wrap around the receptacles to hold the lamp and mount to the mounting screw of the tail light lens. It basicall has a shape like this:
o__O
Once you've done this, everything else just falls into place. But if you use dual-filament lights, make sure you secure the unused lead for the running light so that it doesn't inadvertently turn on the light or short anything else.
I'll try to get a pic to better explain.
