    Ladies i need ur help

bascially this. My girlfriend wants a bike. thats all fine and what not...but i dont even trust her in a car. I honestly think she will kill herself on a bike. She has been in 3 accidents in the last year. She has hit anything from a concrete pole at the gas station to a suv. If she rides i need something for her that will be safe and comfortable. She is 4'11....what bike can be lowered enough to fit her and still be reliable? So thats my question. I wouldnt know much about lowering bikes i have a R1 and 1000RR...and im 5'10 never had to lower anything. So gimme a hand and shoot me some advise on which bike i should get her.

Re: Ladies i need ur help

I'm assuming you want her on a sport bike??    But for starting out I would suggest either a cruiser (my first street bike was a Honda CM450)  or a dual purpose of some sort.   I'm 5' 1/2" and I've tried the DR200 and have no trouble with touching on that.

For sport bikes have you thought about getting her any of the 400's?    They are awesome bikes and majorly small and fairly light.   The VFR400 and the CBR 400 in particular and if your so inclined the Gixxer 400 wasn't bad either.

Right now I have a 1993 CBR 600 and have put a lower link in it and dropped it 3/4" and I can't believe the difference that made.  I feel so much more confident on it.   It could safely be lowered another 1" without interferring with the handling the way she would ride it.   My first bike was a 1984 500 Interceptor and I didn't have to do anything to it except lighten the shocks.   It was low enough with just that.

Most important............get her into a course...........less fighting between the two of you.   Best of luck to her Smile  and you Wink

thanks for the info didnt even know they made 400's. I'll have to look into them. Yes I would love to have her on a sport bike. That way she could ride with us and not look out of place. Thanks

If you are worried about her driving crazy then get a 250 Ninja.  I know for sure it can be lowered, it has decent but tame acceleration, very light, and easy to handle.  I actually like riding it myself.

Re: Ladies i need ur help

So, your girl wants to ride huh? That's cool! Congrats!

So, your girl's VERY accident prone, not cool. Sorry to hear that. j/k

#1  Try and find her a 250 (in my MSF course they had a 250 Ninja)

#2 NO bike until she takes, and PASSES an MSF course.... stick to that rule.. NO MATTER HOW MUCH SEX SHE PROMISES. LOL

#3 IF you are that scared for her safety (she's a lucky gal) then might I suggest NO RIDING UNLESS FULLY GEARED. helmet, boots, gloves, leather jacket, leather riding pants.... This way if she were to go down at least her skin is protected.

#4 Talk to her about all YOUR concerns about her riding. Try not to "attack" her driving skills, but explain that a bike is NOT a car and if she's not 100 % dedicated to learning and then riding RESPONSIBLY then she could very well lose her life (and tell her it would kill you if that happened to her with a BIG hug. It should help her to realize that you are doing all of this for her safety)

NO matter what, AND I MEAN THIS (from personal experience) DO NOT make her feel like you don't want her to ride because she is a girl!!!!!!!!! You must pick all of your words carefully, because if something is said the wrong way, she might think that "you don't want her to ride because she's a girl and girls shouldn't ride sportbikes"  Yes, this is what happened between my b/f and I a few years ago. after a HUGE fight he finally explained better what he was trying to say and then he paid for my bike!

Good luck buddy! Hopefully some of this helped.
