    02 stock f4i wheelie help

as you read i've got an 02 stock f4i and i've ready plenty of articles of wheelies and vids but i just cant seem to do it. my first attempt was an accident i pulled  over on the shoulder on the highway and when i was ready to take off a few cars were approaching so i gunned it.. got maybe 4-6 in. high.. then i started reading about clutching it up. some guy said his stock 02 f4i was easy just go 25mph and rev it till 7k and pop the clutch. i tried it first slowly trying not to kill myself but nothing so i started to let it go harder and eventually i completely let it go with rpms at 10k and all i got was a really REALLY fast take off didnt pick me up more than 3 inches at most. any help would be appreciated

Re: 02 stock f4i wheelie help

im not good at wheelies on streetbikes.maybe im scarred to flip the bike over? dirtbikes and quads im ok though. i think wheelies have alot to do with clutch control, rear brake and weight distribution. if you lean forward the chances of getting the bike to wheelie is alot harder then leaning back. please be careful though when leaning back and poping the clutch as you can loose control of the bike from possibly going up to fast and panicing. im no expert at wheelies but hope this helps

Re: 02 stock f4i wheelie help

i drive a 01 f4i. and i had the same problem when i first started out. now i can pop it up at 35mph to center of gravity(45 degree angle) and ride it for a block. for me the biggest thing was mental. i think i was droppin the clutch to slow. cuz i was thinkin about it. then one day i tried it went to about 8 i think, and it came up no problem. drop that clutch quick. i know this probably wasnt much help. but if you have any questions let me know.

I have the same bike and all i do to get the front up is ride it in first up to about 7 or 8k, let off the gas to compress the front suspension, and then nail the throttle.

lol, the center of gravity is not at 45 degrees... try 11 o'clock.  I also have an '02 f4i and clutch wheelies are easy in 1st gear.  They are super scary when you first start but you will get used to it, start small.  Get an even acceleration up to up 25 mph, should be around 5k revs.  Pull clutch in and give it gas, not too quick just keep it smooth to up 9k then let the clutch out instantly and keep on the gas, the second you shut the throttle down its either going back down or not coming up.  If you want to power wheelie, get a stage one sprocket kit on eebay $100, -1 tooth in front +2 in the back. With that you gain about 10% acceleration without losing top speed then all you have to do is pull the gas back and you are doing a wheelie.

Re: 02 stock f4i wheelie help

I use to have an 06 F4i. Trust me it will wheelie in 1st and 2nd. You can power it up in 1st like other are telling you. Roll on to about 25-30mph in first, let off then back on and the wheel will come up. If it only comes up an inch or so, your timing is off. If should come right on up. I sold it and bought an 07 R1. I don't have any problems wheeling needless to say now.
