    Re: 2008 Ninja 250 SWEET!!

forget about the fact that it looks tons better.... the 17" wheels and larger brake rotor are worth the price increase all by themselves.  now they just need to make an R model w/ some real suspension and ill even buy one.

this might actually be a nice way to sport/tour on my commutes, i wonder what kind of gas mileage it gets and how stable it really is at freeway speeds.

not that my f4i doesnt get good gas mileage, but this would probably do even better. does anyone know if the engine is the same as the old one? apparently this new one is a parallel twin, not sure what was in the oldschool one.

looks like kawi is going to kill with the 250r, they have no competition in the US market.

    Re: 2008 Ninja 250 SWEET!!

hell, slap on some zx-6rr forks and shock, zx-6rr triples, zx-6rr calipers (cuz now you have two rotors) some braided lines, and you're all set!

i wouldn't be surprised if anyone has brought this up yet. Wink

[edit] i never had a problem wiht the older model. that was one heck of a fun ride on the mtns.

    Re: 2008 Ninja 250 SWEET!!

this topic has been discussed in length in many threads over at BARF....  real results will come when enough ppl can finally race these bikes against the older model in 250proddy and 250superbike (i believe such classes exist but r really called something else)

    Re: 2008 Ninja 250 SWEET!!

I rode to NY state and back for fall break, 1500 miles round trip, over 1300 of which on interstate 81.  I got about 55 MPG doing a steady 80-90 mph on the way back, and that's with a backpack strapped on the back seat, with, among other things, a spare helmet and Guitar Hero controller (all securely fastened, of course).  High speed stability was no problem, even when passing truckers I was fine.  I'd slide a few inches to the away-side (if passing the truck on my right, I would be pushed to my left) but it was less than 4 inches, if that, and hardly noticeable.

As far as I can tell, the only dif in the engine between the new ones and my 05 is the new ones have a little bit more midrange.
