fingersx [:fingersx] First sightings and impressions

2007 CBR 600 RR (Action Shot)

Being webmaster of a CBR owners community site and having some Honda contacts here in Europe has allowed me to bring you a few first impressions of the 2007 CBR 600 RR stretching its legs Wink.

2007 Honda CBR 600 RR (European Color Scheme)

The new CBR is slimmer than the '06 model. Sitting on both the '06 and '07 the '07 will feel smaller between the legs. Seating position seems to be a bit more aggressive, but not as radical as the '06 R6.

    2007 CBR 600 RR (Naked)

Expect more power. Don't rely on the looks not being completely different from the previous model, because the changes seem to be in the heart. Let's just say that, in terms of power, down a straight, for instance, a stock '07 will give a race prepped 2005 CBR 600 RR a good run for its money. Some insiders even consider that, on completely stock trim, the '07 600 RR may have a slight edge on the '06 R6, so expect great  races in the 600cc categories all over the World.

The undertail exhaust, even in stock form, is light. Aftermarket exhaust pipes will be lighter, but the stock one isn't as heavy as it looks.

2007 CBR 600 RR (HESD - Electronic steering damper)

Against all odds and usual prejudice for OEM steering dampers, the '07 600 RR steering damper - that should be installed hidden from view under the airbox/tank cover - actually works very well on a racetrack, which can only be good news to all of you who plan on taking this bike to a racetrack. One less thing to buy !

2007 CBR 600 RR (Action Shot)

Suspension is still typical CBR style. Works fine for 90% of the common usage, but once pushed hard on a racetrack, it could use some aftermarket parts front and rear, in case people would like to race it seriously. But for the trackday fan, it should prove good enough and even give the amateur racer some serious fun.

2007 Honda CBR 600 RR (Dashboard)

No new functionality expected on the gauges, like a stopwatch or similar. Too bad it would be a nice addition Sad.

More info will be posted as we get closer and closer to the release of the bike to the dealers Smile.

    Re: First sightings and impressions

Yes. It is already confirmed that the engine of the new Hornet is the 2007 CBR 600 RR engine !! It may be tuned a bit more for midrange, but it will be the same engine !! No longer the Hornet will have an engine from a few years back. Now it has a brand new top spec engine.

    Re: First sightings and impressions

These new bikes are sick, especially the white color.  I went to Biketoberfest in Daytona last weekend and immediately found the Honda vendor.  Sitting on the bike does give a cramped feeling with the knees so high up from the position of the rear sets, but that goes along with having a race-minded machine.  All around, even with the new graphics, it's a sick bike.

BTW:  Honda vendors specifically stated they DO NOT sell Honda T-shirts, which is completely ridiculous.  I quote, "We sell motorcycles, not T-shirts."  Anyone know where I can find some Honda shirts online?

    Did someone say white?

I really love the look of this bike, it reminds me of the f2/f3's married to the 2003-2005's.  Did I mention I'm getting one =P

Here is a photo I stumbled across.

    Re: First sightings and impressions

this is way weired, its the 2007 rr for sure but why does it have the same old turn signals? from all the pics looks like they upgraded their turnsignals.... hmmmmmmmm, very dodgy if you ask me.

    Re: First sightings and impressions

to my (limited) knowledge, honda uses the old vfr turn signals (fugly imho) on north american bikes and 954 turn signals in europe

i dunno if it's due to regulations, stock, cost of manufatur, etc.

also, non-northa american hondas (european spec) do not have either front or rear reflectors

these are little things in addition to the unrestricted power advantage of european models
