bad wreck im ok some bruised ribs and a bad sprained ankle. No more canyon riding for me to many factors I cant control. I am in the market for a new bike now. And I am curious what you all think of the 08 1000RR....I am also considering the Ducati 1098....opinions please.

The 1098 is a sweet ride but the one thing that has always turned me off about Ducati is the maintenance.  It'll cost you twice as much to maintain it (if not more) if you stick to the factory service schedule.

supposedly the new ZX-10R produces just as much HP and Torque as the 1098.  id stick w/ an I-4 engine, but thats just me.  abad is def correct about the maintenance too... much cheaper to get a japanese bike past 100k.  but honestly, maybe an uber expensive bike isnt the way to go.  im sure your insurance rates will be through the roof considering your recent wreck and the Duc wont make that any better.  either way, heal up quick

maybe u should test the 1098 first then compare it to the 08 1krr. my buddy has a 1098 and we both canyon ride and i took it for a spin and i never felt more uncomfortable on a motorcycle ever!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i hear that the new 08 1krr is suppose to take the moto community by storm as far as handling goes, but for looks thats another story!!!!!!! ducks have always had a look about them, 749, 999, now the 1098! u should really find a duck then ride it first. (my two cents, my ride is a 06 1krr)

So how did it happen and be honest, it took me awhile to admit that it was my fault when i wrecked my first bike.  Over cooked a corner and low sided it into a pole.  And believe me wrecking my bike was a great learning tool as crazy as that sounds.  So, what happened?

an uber expensive bike will make you ride safer!
