    quick ? about bike prep

I just signed up for my first track day March 1 at Little Taladega.  I know to pull the fuse for my lights, but what do I do about the brake light?  Do I just tape it?  When I pulled that fuse, I noticed my tach wasn't working.

    You can:

    • disconnect the plug
    • remove the bulb
    • tape over it but put enough tape so that light doesn't bleed through

Even if you do one of the first two, its a good idea to tape it anyway so that there wouldn't be plastic everywhere if you crashed.

i actually pulled the fuse also on my 2nd trackday only to realized i needed that tach working. lmao

taping is fine. some people like duct tape, some like painter's paint, others prefer a different type (black strips looking) that I can't recall the name though. but most trackday providers are getting flexible that as long as the cover is not glass, you don't have to tape it as long as you just pull the plugs out to the lights. front headlights and side markers should be easy. rear is a tad challenging as sometimes, the tail rear seat cover doesn't fully expose the plugs. you might have to remove the tail to gain full (and easy) access to the rear brake/tail/turn signal plugs. but ymmv depending on your bike.

and you don't have to be so precise on your taping, like going around the shape of the plastic lense cover. i used to be that way. only to find out it's a pain and it doesn't matter (well, i didn't care much for pictures afterwards).Smile

thanks for the replies.  highrevs, i'm some what of a neat freak.  i planned on just going around the edge with a little razor or something to clean the edges up.
