    V-rod vs. CBR 600

Well I was talking to my boss today about a V-rod I was looking at on the internet. I said "those look pretty sweet, but not big on performance". Now I've never ridden a V-rod, 1250 cc, water-cooled, 5speed? and owns one. He seems to think that his V-rod could smoke my cbr 600 in not only the quarter mile but also in the twisties. I won't challange him to the twisties becuase hes nearly 50 and would feel bad for his kid, yet I was wondering about that quarter mile performace. I owned a 94' 883 and it was a really slow hunk of ***, but still kinda fun to ride when I wasn't trying to fix it or bothering my dad about it. Having no experience with the V-rod, what kinda performace level are we looking at? I've blown past them on the street and never had one even try to keep up with me, but if someone did how would they fair? My boss seems to think I would still be on the starting line while he's at 1/8 of a mile.

    Re: V-rod vs. CBR 600

    HAHAHAHAHA.... ridiculous

while the V-rod does make more HP, it weighs almost twice as much as your F2.  weight is much more important that power, esp in the 1/8th mile.  u can tell your boss that ive run 7.1 in the 1/8th on my 600RR and my bike makes about 15% less HP than the V-rod.  if your buddy needs even more justification... u can tell him that i smoke literbikes at 60ft even though they make MUCH more torque (which is the best advantage for the V-rod) simply because my bike is about 40lbs lighter.  compare that to the 250lb difference btw an F2 and a V-rod and u get my pt.

yes, my bike makes around 15% more HP than the F2.  but if u check google for 1/8th mile times of the V-rod, they are usually around 7.3-8.1 depending on the rider.  the 7.3 was put up by a professional, not your everyday rider.... so it would be a close race w/ your bike, mostly depending on rider skill (and if u have since changed your gearing).  however, id put my $$ on u in the twisties hands down, even if u were a newbie rider...  ive talked to plenty of ppl that could smoke your boss's and his V-rod on a Ninja250 in the mountains....

haha sry, i read "94" and instantly thought F2. your F4 makes HP #s closer to my 600RR and is lighter than the F2, so any race would fall even more in favor of u.... tell your boss he knows nothing about sportbikes.

    wheelieHAHAHABig Smilelmao

I love how HD riders think that sport bikes aren't real bikes.  Better yet, I love how they get the "fastest HD ever" and forget just how SLOW HD's were.  Tell him to get at least a Buell XB12R and then he can talk about keeping up with a sport bike in the twisties.

well someone has to entertain u... Big Smile

honestly, i tend to shy away from any conversation about motorcycles w/ the vast majority of riders and non-riders i meet on the street.  its not that most ppl have no idea wat they are talking about, it jus bothers me more that they dont have the courtesy to listen and/or attempt to learn something.  plus, the vast number of accepted myths/rumors/etc makes intelligent conversation hard.

blasting something on the internet is a diff story.  if someone wants to read a post of mine and respond, thats fine.  atleast they took the time to read it and form an opinion, hopefully an intelligent one.

I watch someone lose a V-Rod on a PINKS show to an older Suzuki something.  I can't rember.  Also to note the HD had a few bikes head start.  I'd really like to watch this....
