    Awesome deal

So my friend put together a bike SO CHEAP I just had to post on it and see what everyone thinks.  He looked at a 2004 Suzuki GSXR-600 for $4000.  After speaking to the guy, he figured out the vehicle had some kind of salvage/rebuilt title, meaning it wasn't street legal.  After talking to the guy for several minutes and using my skepticism over speakerphone to his advantage, he talked the guy down to $600!  Remember, this is a complete bike just the frame is not legal.  He insisted he would make the bike legal and still come out ahead, and all of us (his buddies who own bikes) told him he was crazy and it would be one big headache and wasn't worth the trouble.  Well, he picked him up a clear title frame (2005) online for $1800.  He tore the parts off the old frame and changed them over to the new one.  He then sold the old frame for $1000 online.  So right now we're at $1400 spent.  Then he took it to the local moto shop and got new tires, new brake line, and had the bike tuned and adjusted, out the door for $300.  He shortened the exhaust himself.  He now has basically a 2005 GSXR-600 with new tires in perfect running condition for $1700.  Now is that a deal or what!

Yeah, it probably only took him about a month from the day he bought it to the day it was complete.  I just rode it today and it rides damn good for a $1700 bike.  I still like the way mine rides WAY better, but then again it was $6000.  I'm happy for him though.

if you know what you're doing, great! my pit buddy blew an engine on his gixxer 1k over early in practice over the weekend. while he was away, our garage neighbor helped by tearing down the engine. the bike was literally a rolling chassis in about 1 hr. engine, radiator, etc. all off the frame quick!!! i didn't bother staying for the re-install completely (was out goofing around the pits in the rain). but the engine was at least bolted back in a little over 1 hr too. i thnk it took longer to get the rest of the stuff put back, but this was a pretty quick tear down and re-install imho.
