dismal 1st race weekend of the year - cliff notes version

i had started what seemed to be a good coffee read. but it was dragging and depressing. so i'll just give bullet points version since i've been doing more powerpoint slides recently.

    The good:
    * got 2 practice sessions (very easy due to rain forecasts, which ended up to be true).
    * finished my 1 and only race ALIVE and UNHURT
    * physically survived a shorted race (6 vs. 8 laps) w/o even really realizing the halfway point (that moment i'm screaming in the head  what, that's only half way.. omfg.. i'm dying here
    * i did a wheelie practicing starts. probably 1-2 ft this time. wheelie

    The bad:
    * expensive Saturday practice due to rain after 2 practice sessions. at least I got my tech and gear sticker for the year instead of going it sunday (didn't want want to register fearing the rain, but i need some kind of seat time)
    * didn't even finish 1st race's 1st lap (throttle got stuck, probably aided in stalling at the line) but glad i they let me go back to pits after at T7 (after I used the T4 bypass) since I was able to limp it thru before the leaders come catch up)
    * found out the problem on my quick throttle. dremmeled it down and was able to make 2nd race. this took about 2.5 hours and i didn't even get to eat lunch.
    * realized i'm not a real racer. i was ready to quit after the throttle issue and didn't want to deal with it then (in fear of my health of course). whereas my fellow racer friends were like let's fix this facking thing so you can go out there. no, you're not going home yet!!!!
     * came in dead facking last on my 1 and only race i made lap1.
    * realized after putthing back the throttle cables, I didn't close the slack more so after about some throttle twist, it ain't going anywhere because the cable was loose. that's my excuse for DFL result anyway.
    * i have more physical issues. the area under the thumb on the palm (where that arc is for palm reading) gets to sore from braking i can't squeeze the throttle to open it up. when I come in after practice or the race, i could barely make a fist.'tis cramping all over. it's my constant physical handicap this year. using those gripping thingies (the one you squeeze and looks like a plier but a spring at top instead) ain't helping. will try a powerball next. that along with mucho slack on the cable, I couldn't really close up on the 2nd to last person (there were 3 of us, with me last).
    * my starts really sucked. almost stalled the 2nd race too
    * i wussed out of the last race (best grid position also, especially for 1st race of the year). my hand won't last. my legs were jelly.
    * i need to fire ny mechanic. he's the one that puts on my leather suit and poses out there for the race. dumbazz forgot to tighten the slack on the 2nd bolt of the throttle cable.
    * did i say i'm not a real racer. i just have the bike plus expert plate for 'bux braggin'. doesn't seem to help with the cuties at the gym though.

sigh... well, not quite cliff notes. i was ready to get rid the bike and use the 1098S instead! that until someone knocked some sense into me. lmao but i did really make me think i don't have the right attitude for racing (quits/gives up too early, cuz hell, i want to continue paying the bills and work on Monday, Tuesday in this case).

i am knocking my the ball off the driver very well though. almost drove the hole one time about 284 yds, and that's w/o help from a draw shot. maybe it's the sign.

congrats on keeping safe over the odd weekend.  im not at all surprised that u were a little disheartened w/ all the rain and your constant battle w/ injuries, but def Yay! for sticking w/ it as always.  im sure things will go better next time u head out and i hope that u still had a good time out there doing something we all enjoy.

So I've been meaning to post this for a while. Sounds like u had one hell of a weekend Highrevs and I am glad u ran your first race. Don't give up even though the rain, your body and the bike were giving u trouble this time. I give you props cause I ve seen what racers have to go through and I know I could never do it. Plus, you have no idea what the next race could be like unless u try. So good luck with your next race and keep your head up high.
