F2 fork help (with some qualifications)

So I know the best thing you can do to the forks on an F2 are swap them out with F3 forks (or at least F2 forks from '94) - but i'm poor and in a hurry.

Can anyone out there help me make the best of the stock forks on a '93? (or trade me for the forks from your '94)

I have the forks properly sprung for my weight and riding style (this bike is track-only), and the oil slightly above stock level.

Currently i have 1/2 inch of preload in the spring (when the adjuster is in the middle), and the adjusters cranked all the way down.

my problem is that without compression/damping adjustment, i am getting a TON of dive under braking.

    any suggestions?

heavier oil is probably your only cheap solution.  the higher oil level def increases bottoming resistance, but i doubt the damping increased very much throughout the entire range.  also, since uve undoubtedly installed heavier springs, u could stand to have more rebound damping as well.  heavier oil will help out there as well.

oh, and set your preload for sag, not in an attempt to get rid of front end dive.   a springy front end is prob worse than one that just dives and settles.
