I have an 02 F4I track bike and was wondering what the small triangular box near the front of the ram air tubes is for?? I am guessing it is a type of silencer to reduce noise?

it may also have something to do with turbulence.  i ended up cutting mine off when i installed my flush mounts.  i haven't noticed any negative effects.  *shrug*

Ya i think it is to reduce the noise but i am not positive.

I cut mine off to when i installed my flush mounts, but that is what i get for not buying the name brand that are made for a specific model. O well.

And i haven't noticed any negative effect either so im not to worried about it haha.

mine have two weird boxes coming out of the tubes. 1 upper and 1 lower

which one did you guys remove?

I myself cut off the bottom ones to make my flush mounts fit. What do you want to remove yours for?

Mine is a race bike, I thought removing the boxes may create more of a ram air effect.

any gains in flowage? what about the top one that sits in ther with a grommet what good does that do?

O ic, ya i am not to sure if it does create more of a ram air effect. It might help it flow a little better but correct me if im wrong.

To be honest with you i haven't touched the top ones so i couldn't tell you what that does. Im guessing it just reduces noise like the bottem one does, just a theory though so dont hold me against it lol.
